Will Biden try to pound Palin at Wash U?

ST. PAUL — The Oct. 2 vice-presidential debate at Washington University has gotten more compelling.

On the surface, it looks one-sided. Joe Biden has a world of foreign policy experience, not to mention all his Judiciary Committee work and two presidential campaigns, and will talk, talk, talk till somebody gives him the hook.

But should the Barack Obama campaign be worried?

Quite possibly, if Biden takes Sarah Palin lightly or becomes overbearing, dismissive or patronizing — all within the realm of possibility.

Republicans in St. Paul already are playing the expectations game — and maybe some mind games — in anticipation of the evening when Biden and Palin meet in St. Louis.

“When he starts talking and trying to bully her around some, I think there’s going to be a very interesting reaction,” said Charlie Bass, head of the Republican Main Street Coalition, an organization of GOP moderates.

“If I were an Obama strategist, I’d be fretting about how to keep Biden under control when he is dealing with Sarah Palin,” added Bass, a former congressman from New Hampshire.

Two years ago, in an Alaska gubenatorial debate with then-Gov. Frank Murkowski, Palin was asked if she was “a little too young and inexperienced for the job.”

She responded by portraying herself as an outsider and reciting a litany of accomplishments as mayor of the Alaskan town of Wasilla.

In St. Louis, look for a similar tact — and remember that not long after that debate, Murkowski was looking for work.

BAD choice of headline, gentlemen.

Just how much executive experience does Biden have? He has been a fixture in the senate for most of Palin’s life. Biden is a talker, that is it. He has never had to make an executive decision, he has never ran anything (either has Obama, but that is another subject). I think Palin has a good chance to hand Biden his proverbial butt, if she can get him to shut his mouth.

What are Palin’s accomplishments? I know she was against a bridge she was previously heavily in favor of. I also know that she cut some taxes for Alaskans because of the revenues received from the spike in oil prices (we subsidised her tax breaks). What else has she done? I know several mayors and I am not sure they have the experience necessary to be a V.P.

Hey, she can’t have it both ways. Either she can handle situations or she can’t. With the junk that is following her today (pregnant daughter, lawyer for the investigation)…she certainly is becoming a distraction isn’t she?

Palin will not last on the ticket. It will be Eagleton 1972 again, drip by drip, a deer ambling into the oncoming headlights of the media monster truck. Better start thinking about who is best situated to step in when Palin resigns or is dumped. I like Governor Bobby Jindahl of Louisiana. He put his state above politics, as he should, and stayed home from the RNC to mind the store with Hurricane Gustav.

The “Axis of Ignorance” cometh! Witless, sick and vicious and their ilk are trying to make a very, very small town mayor now with 20 months as Governor of a state with fewer people than St. Louis County into some monumentalally wondrous person fit to be a “heartbeat away from the Presidency?”

Send in the cops, you all are on drugs!

Palin was for earmarks before she against them!

Palin didn’t know of her administration’s efforts to can her ex-brother in law, until she was played a tape showing she did!

Palin just gave away the store to another Big Oil company before leaving Alaska to join McCain who was against drilling until he got $2 million from Big Oil last month!

Palin is Dick Cheney with librarian’s glasses…a wholly owned subsidiary of Big Oil and the K Street corrupt cronies of KKKarl Rove!

All this further proves McCain is still too ignorant to be President!

Of course it’s a bad headline. What do you expect from a liberal newspaper full of liberal writers? BTW, how can any newspaper or newspaper reporter support Biden? He’s a proven plagerist. If a reporter was caught plagerizing, they’d be fired - and no other newspaper would hire him or her.

At least no one will accuse ScottSimon of plagiarizing the correct spelling of plagiarism.

Butler, when they provide spell check for blog replies, you’ll get absolutely perfect spelling.

Butler, sorry to disappoint you with my first mistake of the week…
