Gov. Matt Blunt is no stranger to issuing news releases filled with angry rhetoric, but today’s is a bit unique.

The governor rips the members of the National Socialist Movement who apparently plan a march on the Capitol grounds on Nov. 8. According to the Jefferson City News-Tribune, the group turned to the capital city after being rejected by the city of Columbia.

Blunt says he wishes that he, too, could have rejected the group but said the law won’t allow it.

“While I prefer to ignore this hate group, the media have continued to draw attention to their march, and Missourians are asking why they are being allowed on Capitol grounds,” Blunt said. “The great people of this nation have long recognized that we have certain moral responsibilities to one another. Not so many years ago, a generation of exceptional American heroes confronted the dangerous ideaologies of Nazi Germany and won. it is repulsive to me that the eveil and despicable views that led to horrific and unthinkable crimes against humanity would be celebrated by this group.”

Columbia had rejected the Neo-Nazi’s plan for a march because police were already committed that day to helping with traffic for the MU-Kansas State football game.

Sorry about that Tony. I let my fingers do the thinkin’. Hate-mongering, racist, despicable, Nazis. (Keep it clean…keep it clean….) They don’t deserve publicity, but have the right…(hate to say it)…the right to march and express their views in a democracy… (even if they have no regard for human life)… The bit about the eggs and tomatoes stands.

Capitol: 2 capitalized : the building in which the U.S. Congress meets at Washington, D.C.

…as opposed to capital…

The NSM is going to march on the Capitol in Washington, D.C.?

Tim, check your AP stylebook. Any Capitol building (U.S. or state) is capitalized — unlike ”capital” which refers to the city that houses the Capitol. The stupid Nazis are not marching on Jefferson City. They are gathering in the capital to stage a rally at the Capitol.

You can look it up.

Good for Blunt for calling out these repugnant scumbags. They march around the Capital grounds yelling their message of hate and they don’t even realize that they’re benefiting from the laws they hate like free speech. It’s one of the great ironies of the First Amendment, but I’m happy that Blunt exercised his own rights and issued this release.
