Two cars belonging to the family of U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, were vandalized overnight in front of his home in Compton Heights.

According to neighbors, someone had spray-painted or painted the words “Traitor,” “Bailout for China is treason,” and “Psalm 2.”

Some of the graffiti appears to refer to the $700 billion financial-institution bailout package that Congress approved a few weeks ago. Carnahan had voted for the measure.

The vandal or vandals used white paint on the family’s black car, and black paint on its silver car. One vehicle was in the Carnahans’ driveway, and the other was parked on the street in front of the congressman’s house.

Sources tell us that the U.S. Capitol police is getting involved in the investigation. Earlier this week, six of Minnesota’s members of Congress — both senators and four House members –had been the victims of similar crimes.

According to the AP:

“Vandals late Tuesday and early Wednesday spray-painted graffiti on the homes and garages of Sens. Norm Coleman and Amy Klobuchar and Reps. Jim Ramstad, John Kline, Keith Ellison and Michele Bachmann.

“At the Coleman residence, ‘U R A criminal resign or else’ was spray-painted on the garage along with the words ‘Scum’ and ‘Psalm 2.’ At Ellison’s home, ’scum’ was scrawled on the garage and ‘traitor,’ ‘resign now’ and ‘Psalm 2′ on the house.

“The Bible’s Psalm 2 warns ‘kings of the earth’ against incurring God’s wrath.”

I’m in no way condoning this, but our elected reps need to keep in mind what can possibly happen when they vote in the interest of the rich, rather than society’s everyman. The money may not be there, but it is the everyman who represents the bulk of their constituents.

I am sure that the Hon. Carnahan will insist on NOT charging the perp’s of this first admendment right expression. What kind of democrat would ever be so mean as to want someone jailed for such a do about nothing.

I will not be at all surprised if the “vandals” turn out to be associated with that “pastor” who kept showing up to the funerals of our soldier killed in action to “protest” abortion and homosexuality.

Here is the problem, if these folk could get to the Congresspersons property to spray paint, what would keep them from planting a bomb underneath? Or some such act of violence.

I have no sympathy for someone who supported the robbery of the American people. Poor little Russ is out a few bucks for paintwork while the rest of us owe $10,000 for the bailout of the rich political elite. He and everyone that supported robbing us should be thankful if a little vandalism is all they face.

Since when is destruction of property “such a do about nothing”? First Amendment rights end when they infringe upon the rights of others. I don’t consider spray painting someone’s home, car etc within someone’s First Amendment rights. A person can’t just say or write anything they want, anywhere they please. There are limits to those rights and this obviously goes over the limit. They should have to pay for the damage to the property, pay a fine, and do community service as well. Possibly reading a little more of that bible they keep thumping may pay off too.

educate yourselves! Will any of us survive if this things collapses completely? The last eight years were built on smoke and mirrors and now the reality is there was no job growth, no value growth, no educational growth, no infrastructure growth. The rich are going to live like the rich and we are going to live the way we SHOULD!

Educate yourselves!

Nothing against the congressman, but I know for a fact that Compton Heights homes all have garages…and most have a fenced area prior to the garage. I can’t imagine why, if you had these luxuries, you wouldn’t take advantage of them. Guess he will now.

America’s a scary place; and so is this blog.

So, just because Rep. Carhanan chose to park his cars outside his house instead of in his garage, that makes it okay for someone to vandalize his property? Can I make that same justification for you when it’s your car next? This seems to be a coordinated effort against several members of Congress, and that’s quite scary. The Capitol Police are right to get involved. I hope the perp goes to Federal prison for this.
