GOP operative with Mo ties cited as “Palin’s personal shopper”
As related earlier today by our own Jake Wagman, Saks at Frontenac Plaza is one of the recipients of the $150,000 that the Republican Nationa Committee spent to clothe GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
The swank shop is among those listed by the online political-reporting site Politico, in a story that broke today.
Now, The Atlantic magazine has identified the person listed on the FEC reports as the one who apparently bought the clothes (or authorized the purchases): Jeff Larson.
As the magazine states in a story headlined “Sarah Palin’s Personal Shopper:”
”Larson is the Karl Rove protégé who’s a principal in the robocalling firm of FLS Connect (the “FLS” stands for Tony Feather, Jeff Larson, and Tom Syndhorst, all veteran Republican political operatives).
Feather is a veteran Missouri Republican consultant, who used to work for the state party in the early 1990s. He still resides with his family in Jefferson City.
The Atlantic adds that the Larson-Feather firm “is the same one that launched the scurrilous robocalls against John McCain in 2000, and that McCain has now hired to make robocalls connecting Barack Obama to Bill Ayers. (Larson) is also well known in Minnesota for leasing his basement apartment at a steeply discounted rate to embattled Republican Senator Norm Coleman. Evidently, Larson also has quite the eye for women’s fashion. Even hateful liberals would have to admit that Palin dresses awfully nicely.”
The Associated Press is reporting that $41,850 was spent in St. Louis in early September.

That’s a crack team of hardhitting, investigative reporters you got going there. On the relevancy to anything even remotely interesting scale, this is right up there with Joe the Plumber’s divorce records. Readers anxiously await the next installment.
Please, flog this shiny object of a non-story to death. Voters are more interested in what kind of shoes Sarah Palin wears than something silly like, oh I don’t know, why Sen Biden was yanked off the campaign trail the other day or why Sen Obama steadfastly refuses to release his campaign’s small donor records. Afterall, we’re only talking about the future of the Republic. What’s that you say? Sarah Palin uses teeth whiteners?!? Scandal!!!
Question: Should Americans succumb completely to mass hypnosis and actually elect Obama, which do you think will occur first? 1) A deliberate international crisis to test the neophyte president 2) His getting indicted by the feds in a RICOH investigation, or 3) The Post-Dispatch going out of business?
Look like this article was a re-do of an earlier story done about this.I guessed this gave the PD the option to cancel out the originals blogs that probally wasn’t agreeable to them.
My my, the Repug-nican operatives are getting testy today…..this must hit too close to home! FYI to GOP hacks: $150,000 is a significant amount of money to us regular folks, particularly when it is coming from our tax dollars to doll up your “Caribou Barbie”…..
The whole mess on “both sides of the aisle” makes me sick. Whether you have a “D” or an “R” next to your name doesn’t matter. It also doesn’t matter whether you are an “L” or a “C” or a fence-rider. The whole lot is “on the take” and the whole lot is funded from special interests no matter what they claim to the contrary.
The whole two-party system needs to be thrown out. Sign me “Can’t wait until the whole thing is over”.
See: “The Final Undoing of Sarah Palin” by: Dan Amira (posted at palinhasproblems.blogspot.com). Highlights include:
Its the “kind of spending spree that doesn’t mesh with the candidate’s image as a regular hockey mom, nor the campaign’s appeals to middle-class Joe the Plumbers.” Amira includes numerous comments, my favorites being:
• Chuck Todd and friends believe the story “could further add to the perception that Palin isn’t a serious candidate.” And Andrea Mitchell wonders whether Palin is “permitted to accept these kinds of gifts under Alaska ethics laws.” [First Read/MSNBC]
• Jake Tapper wonders whether Palin realizes that even if she donates the clothes to charity, as her campaign claims, she still has to pay taxes on “those fancy new duds just as if someone had written her a check for $150,000.” [Political Punch/ABC News]
Gotta love their spin: “It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign” (McCain-Palin spokesperson Tracey Schmitt). What a waste of energy and natural resources. Why not just shop at a reasonably priced store and donate the MONEY to a worthy cause - like say, paying for Palin’s kids to go traveling with her?
David Axleturf has been busy. Lots of new commentators today.
………….and up next in the fair and balanced Post Dispatch…Barack Obama walks on water while healing a leper!
I wish the investigative reporting worked in both directions. Sad commentary on free speech.
McCain breaks the election finance law, Palin does tax fraud! That’s real “leadership!”
They should both be in jail!
McCain is now their puppet, he hired no one. They control him now. {They} meaning, those who have been running thios country into the groun these last eight years, the Karl Rove/Chaney ilk.
Wow, maybe the post can investigate Obama with the same fine toothed comb! Your paper sucks, I only read it since the whole thing is like reading the comic section. You wonder why your readership is falling? Your reporting is biased and it sucks!
“I wish the investigative reporting worked in both directions. Sad commentary on free speech.”
Indeed. Someone should tell the Limousine Liberals that it’s rude to mock how other people dress when your mouth is full of canape.
D, you spell almost as good as Sen Joe (Mark my wurds!) Biden. Were you a beneficiary of the Obama/Ayers/CAC project in Chicago? Tens of millions of dollars wasted and not a single improvement in student achievment. It’s almost like Obama hates black kids. He’s never done anything to help them.
Good heavens! The attempt at the personal destruction of Sarah Palin will one day be upon many heads! What goes around comes around…shame, shame, shame on the media and all of you blood thirsty sharks. Thankfully, she’s tougher than any of this nonsense and is my choice for VP.

“The attempt at the personal destruction of Sarah Palin will one day be upon many heads! What goes around comes around”
.
Nope, just one head.
The hypocrite in her mirror.
.
Sarah’s just another data point on the graph of “What Goes Around Comes Around”
I deleted some comments because they used foul or obscene language not allowed on Political Fix. (And using **** after the first letter will NOT cut it.)
You can make your point, and still follow our rules.
Thanks.
Let see here - Biden retorical flourishes or Palin Criminal Investigations - tell me what is worse. Not to mention the fact she still cannot tell you what the VP Job is.
Sarah Palin the most unqualified candidate ever chosen for VP.

Gotta really question the judgement of the guy that selected her cause he thinks she has the credentials.
Credentials to be a heartbeat away on day#1.

What was John McCain Thinking?
