Jay Nixon fills Halloween bags with campaign cash

You might say Democrat Jay Nixon has turned into Santa Clause with his sudden giving of campaign cash to other down-ticket Democrats, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, holiday wise.

The Democratic nominee for governor, flush with cash and ahead in the polls, is continuing to make friends by handing out some of his campaign leftovers. It’s as if fellow Democrats seeking office are standing at his door and saying: Trick or Treat.

First came a $25,000 to attorney general candidate Chris Koster. Now reports show that lieutenant governor candidate Sam Page also got $25,000 and treasurer candidate Clint Zweifel got the biggest treat of all, $75,000.

Hypocrite! Just giving away his money to anyone I see.

How does it make him a hypocrite to help out other members of his party who have tougher races? Zweifel and Page really needed that help, both are great candidates, both are fellow Democrats, and both can put that money to good use.

Zweifel needs it, he is falling behind. It is probably too little, too late.

He is a hypocrite because he completly bashed Hulshof for accepting money from the school choice supporter, but never criticized any democrats for accepting his money, and Nixon is now giving money to Koster. Nothing against Koster, just find it funny that Nixon would make such a stink about Hulshof taking the money (when it could disadvantage him) but didn’t seem to have problem when other people who wouldn’t impact him accepted the money.

Zweifel is not falling behind. The polls have been neck and neck, always within the margin of error. The past poll (done by the PD) had Zweifel down by only 2 points - and it was conducted at a point when Lager had been on TV for a week, and Zweifel hadn’t been up at all yet.

And this is a Democratic year, Jay will have long coattails.

There’s a lot to be said for party loyalty, I guess.

I’m a Democrat, but I don’t like Koster. So, just make sure you don’t lump in great candidates like Zweifel and Page with a smarmy opportunist like Koster.

FYI- Zweifel and Page did not get any money from Rex Sinquefeld. And they’re better men for it.

Zwiefel should take comfort in the PD poll, just ask Jeff Harris.

I am not criticizing anyone for accepting Sinquefield’s money. My point being was that Nixon so heavily attacked Hulshof when he accepted the money yet he didn’t seem to have a problem when Koster did.
Just screams opportunist to me and all Missourians need to examine situations like this with Nixon.

Good for Jay! He’s doing the right thing and helping the whole Democratic ticket sweep to victory!

Bravo!
