Jeff Roe jumps gun on outing Montee as fraudulent voter

Roe

In what can only be described as a nasty, personal feud between two Northwest Missouri political rivals, political operative Jeff Roe took aim through his blog The Source at Auditor Susan Montee today, suggesting the Democrat is voting fraudulently.

Only problem is, Roe got some of his information wrong.

Roe, a political consultant, is likely trying to pay Montee back for a news conference last week in which Montee accused Roe’s former boss, U.S. Rep. Sam Graves, of not paying personal property taxes on a couple of airplanes he owns.

In his blog, one of several in which he’s mentioned Montee’s divorce from her ex-husband, attorney Jim Montee, Roe suggests that the Montee’s divorce decree gives Jim Montee ownership of the couple’s St. Joseph’s property. Montee, meanwhile, lives in a house in Jefferson City, but continues to vote absentee in St. Joe.

The reason is simple, Montee says. While the divorced couple agreed to split their property in the way Roe describes, the transactions aren’t complete yet. Her name is still on the St. Joe property, she says, and so Montee says she can still vote there. (In case Roe wonders, Montee says her ex-husband’s name is also on the Jefferson City property.)

Another personal political attack launched. Another dud. Montee’s charges against Graves didn’t amount to much either when the county assessor said she’s the one who told the Graves family that the “salvage planes” didn’t have to be reported.

Tony, don’t buy the Graves spin on the planes. Sam Graves basically told the county assessor, Obi Wan Kenobi-style, “These aren’t the planes you’re looking for - they’re salvage planes” and she accepted that at face value. She didn’t inspect the planes, which are registered with the FAA.

Big surprise. Jeff Roe is only good at dirty politicking, mudslinging and smearing.

He is a disgrace to everyone who works in politics.

You can’t vote somewhere just because your name is still on the property. You are supposed to vote where you live. If her stbx is getting that property, and is living there, I presume that she is not. So technically, Roe is correct here. All things considered, it’s a rather silly point though.

Acutally, it’s not where you live, it’s where your home is. That’s why absentee voting exists. You may live in one place but (at least for the time being) consider another place your home. So they send the ballot to where you live, so you can vote in your home jurisdiction.

For one reason or another, Montee still considers St. Joe her home, and she owns property there, so she is perfectly within her rights to vote there.

Roe seems like a typical, small-minded, mean-spirited Republican. It’s incredibly how the Republican Party attracts those people. They thrive on personal nastiness and don’t even give a moments worth of thought to their crude behavior.

I love that this slug’s name is Jeff “Roe” which is regularly used as a pseudonym in legal proceedings involving rights/duties in controversies where there is a substantial risk that sensitive personal matters will be made public. It connotes a certain air of anonymity, yet this tool is outed (complete with pudgy mug shot) on a regular basis. It also conjures up thoughts of the hapless plaintiff in the seminal case on abortion rights. Mother, behold your son. We had no idea how right you were, Ms. Roe. Mama really does know best.

Ok, Mr. Thomas Maher, when will you provide the code key for your response?Oh, were you not posting that for all who read this blog?

Let’s assume Nick Kasoff is correct. Where was Nick when Jeff Roe failed to resign his City of Liberty Auditor positon after moving out of the city and into his new home. I believe Jeff Roe said he still owned the house in Liberty and would not resign his position in Liberty until the house sold. Jeff Roe was not living in Liberty so if Nick is right Jeff is just as guilty as the one he accuses!

Mr. willys -
Please pardon the paucity of my proficiency at ‘puter patois - but what the heck is a “code key?”
Since my comment DID appear in the blog, I must presume I posted it “for all who read this blog.”
