Koster gets back to basics in new ad
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Though he flicks at attacks from Republican rival Mike Gibbons, Democratic attorney general hopeful Chris Koster gets back to his main campaign narrative — a law-and-order man — in this new ad.
Lately, both campaigns have spent just about as much time mudslinging as they have promoting their own platforms.

Love the new ad. This guy really wants the job (Attorney General, not king of the Missouri GOP) and is totally qualified for it. Good luck, Chris Koster. You’re a class act right down to your party affiliation, even if you had to grow into it.
“My opponents attack ads fail to mention he’s never prosecuted a single case. Not one.”
True. Neither had Jay Nixon. So is this a recent qualification for AG, or is only one which applies to Republicans?
After hearing about the spiteful actions of Koster’s ex-wife in donating to his opponent, while making baseless ex-wife-like criticisms, it clinched my vote for Koster, on behalf of divorced men with conniving ex-wives everywhere. GO KOSTER!
If you were not watching you would have to ask “Is anyone running against Koster?” I see Koster’s ads and ads attacking him but none which identify another candidate (ie Gibbons) or any issues being supported by the other person.
It is rather amazing what a negative campaign Gibbons has decided to run. Most of his ad do not even mention his own name. Gotta question why you would ever vote for a guy that only can say what is bad about the other guy and never gives you any reason to vote for him.
This is not a referendum on qualifications for Missouri Attorney General. This is a referendum on the respective qualifications of the two guys running. Koster is clearly the better candidate, largely for his prosecutorial experience. When Nixon first ran for AG, it was against David Steelman who had close ties to then former AG, and now convicted felon, William Webster. I’m certain that the taint of corruption from the Second Injury Fund scandal that enveloped the office and Steelman was what did him in, Nixon’s lack of time in the prosecutor’s office notwithstanding. BTW that was 16 years ago. Live in the now, Nick. Chris Koster is the right guy for the job.
The real ad to be talking about is not this flashy propoganist stuff put out by the Koster campaign, but the radio ad that began airing in St. Louis today from Rep. Maria Chappelle-Nadal who also happens to be a Democrat. THe fact that this woman, a Democratic delegate who supported Barack Obama as a delegate at the convention, is choosing to back Mike Gibbons says worlds about Mike’s character and implicitly about the true Chris Koster.
Maybe the political fix can get the ad up soon so we can talk about it more.
Z,
You have hated Koster since back before the primary. Please, the fact that you think it is some big deal that you have found one Democrat voting for Gibbon is just funny.
Koster is the better candidate.
BTW if Koster’s ads are “flashy” (guy talking into a camera does not seem that flashy but I guess Z does not get out much) what are Gibbons’ ads? Why does he not even mention his own name? Be honest, gibbons is running the most negative campaign in Missouri history.
Chris Koster for attorney general
I have spent my career as a prosecutor here in Jackson County. As such, I have had the opportunity to work side by side with Chris Koster, former Cass County prosecutor and state senator.
I would like to put to rest any confusion as to whether the position of attorney general requires law enforcement experience. The attorney general is unequivocally the chief law enforcement officer for the state. On a local level, the attorney general handles every appeal on the felony convictions my offices obtain here in Jackson County.
Missouri is fortunate to have an experienced prosecutor running for attorney general this year. Voters should not be misled by ads that distort Koster’s record as a tough prosecutor.
Chris Koster is the only candidate qualified for the job of attorney general.

The ad is not correct when it says that the attorney general is the state’s chief law enforcement officer. Section 556.017 of Missouri law defines a law enforcement officer as someone who has the power to make arrests. The attorney general does not have that power.
I was an attorney in the office for almost ten years. Very little of what is done in that office is related to criminal law. The criminal law aspect of the office is mostly writing criminal appelate briefs, not courtroom work.
Chris Koster SETTLED OUT-OF-COURT the majority of his cases. That doesn’t sound like a prosecutor, that sounds like WHIMP!
