For those who wish to comment on the Obama rally but were not actually there. There were no free sandwiches. Honestly, I would take 100,000 to be a lowball number, the crowd was truly massive and inspiring. Plus he turned out 75,000 that night in KC. I will give Palin credit for turning out 20,000 but you have to keep your perspective.

In the last week Obama has turned out 175,000 at two events and McSame/Palin have turned out 23,000. I can’t wait for Nov. 4th.

- If you don’t believe then please include some sane rationale why not. My hunch is that most of us here would expect those with strong feelings about a subject to use their own words when articulating the rationale behind their strong feelings. It may not change many minds but a civil exchange of ideas has a long history of informing those on the other side and at least giving them some info that could lead to their appreciation of how somebody could hold the opposite view.

Wow, about 17,000 more that McCain; that has to be embarrassing for McCain. The problem for the GOP is that their unholy alliance has come to an end. Palin can fire up the angry extremists, but she is an embarrassment to anyone who thinks presidents should actually be intelligent and informed about world events (which, after Bush, is about 75% of the country). Now various groups are going to be at each others’ throats fighting for control of the GOP. The neocons and the theo-cons never really had that much in common; really the religious fundamentalists were just manipulated by people who wanted to use the government to support their corrupt business interests.

o A couple of posters took a shot at Obama and gun control. I asked them to clarify, in their own words, what about his platform made them feel that way, nothing about a discussion, just trying to appreciate smart people’s opinions.

o I find it revealing that you presume my position on an issue because I have voted for Obama.
- I have never and will never be a single issue voter, rather I consider all the issues.
- I do not ever remember voting for a candidate who held the same position on all the issues as me.
- I roll it all up, chew on it and then do what you’re supposed to do - vote for the candidate that you think is best overall.

o Search all the pages in these PD forums and you won’t find me ever taking a position or most likely even mentioning gun control before today. Trouble is most likely you can’t search all the PD pages since I’ve joined in, so it can’t be proven absolutely positively 100% that I haven’t.
o If I had posted a position your searches would find it and prove me wrong, but since I have not then no amount of searching can prove that I’ve not posted about the subject. My suggestion for you to search and the resultant negative scenario is an example of “not being able to prove a negative” - the negative being that I’ve never posted about gun control.
o Since you wouldn’t find anything but you would most likely be limited to searching a finite amount of pages the fact that I’ve not posted a position on the subject cannot be proven 100%.
