Palin reported to give deposition here, before dropping puck

News accounts, including on CNN, report that Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will be doing more than dropping the puck during her visit to St. Louis later today.

Various sources (including some partisan ones) say that the Alaska governor also will be deposed by lawyers in connection with the “Troopergate” controversy, which centers on allegations that she and her husband had tried to use her clout to get her ex-brother-in-law fired as an Alaska state trooper.

St. Louis sources say the deposition will taken in Palin’s hotel room here. (For security and news reasons, we are NOT disclosing where she is staying.)

The regional spokesman for the McCain-Palin campaign declined comment yesterday on the matter.

According to MSNBC’s First Read, Palin is to be deposed “by the independent investigator working for the Alaska personnel board. The interview will be under oath.”

Todd Palin is to be deposed separately.

Her personal attorney, Thomas Van Flein, was traveling on the campaign plane Thursday, according to news reports.

UPDATE — At the moment, Palin is in Springfield preparing for what is expected to be a huge rally of supporters. Here’s from the Associated Press:

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Dozens of people bundle up to wait almost nine hours to get a good spot to see GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin at a campaign rally in Springfield.

The Alaska governor is scheduled to begin her speech at noon Friday at a rally in the parking lot of Bass Pro Outdoor World. Some spectators braved a stiff wind and chilly air to arrive by 3:30 a.m., long before gates opened at 9 a.m.

The event was initially scheduled for an arena at Missouri State University. But after all 4,000 tickets were snapped up within 90 minutes Wednesday, the Republican Party moved the event to Bass Pro’s massive parking area to accommodate a larger crowd.

Speeches in advance of Palin’s address are set to begin at 11 a.m.

Hey steve665, you’re a real man for wanting to see physical harm done to a woman. Whoever is with you found a real catch. But that’s typical of liberals who hate, even to the point of physically harming anyone they disagree with.

steve665,

Nice comment. Suggesting that someone direct violence towards a candidate for Vice-President of the United States is unthinkable.

I hope you’re not from St. Louis.

excellent point, Palin supporter–sorta like using inflammatory rhetoric at rallies that inspires wing-nuts to become unhinged and call out “kill him” and “off with his head.”

Not really a great time to talk about HATE and “liberals” given the explosive, offensive comments made by Repugnicans such as Michelle Bachmann and the NC rep recently–saying we HATE America and other nonsense…would you care to enlighten all of us as to how that is productive or fair or “American?”

Palin will be a (well-deserved) footnote after this election…I am just amazed that there are still people out there like you who defend this nasty, divisive, phoney, self-righteous, hypocritical “pit bull in lipstick.”

side comment–notice how all of these McCain-Palin rallies require TICKETS as opposed to being open to everyone like Obama’s rallies…?

Besides having an odor of “elitism,” It doesn’t take a brain-surgeon to figure out that they want a 100% friendly crowd there…not too many protestors are going to spedn “up to nine hours” to get tickets on the off-chance that they might be seen or heard.

I also LOVE how they always parade out the kids…what type of mother subjects her child to crowds like this…anyone who has had children knows that pediatricians strongly recommend NOT bringing infants out unnecessarily for at least the first 6-8 weeks of their lives. Guess “ordinary folk” like the Palins can’t affored baby-sitters…but their contributors apparently can affored to buy a 7 year old girl a Louis Vitton bag that costs more than most of us make in a week.

She’s trash…pure and simple.

Wow…tough guy behind the computer wanting to see Sarah Palin “slammed” at a hockey game. Most people get so caught up in this campaign and trying to defend “their” views that they forget who “they” are. Most of you can’t tell anyone what you as an individual think…you are all just sheep being led to the slaughter by a media with an agenda. Think for yourself, be your own person. You would have to be a fool to think that one side of this polital contest isn’t being treated fairly. Do you think the media, or Hollywood can even come close to relating? Do they really know what real Americans go through? I don’t think so…but keep listening to their story…maybe then you will be lucky enough to catch the quarter they flip you after you deliver their half-soy, low fat whipped cream, mochachino sissy drinks. Wake up and be an individual thinker…not some D or R robot. Uninformed people make me sick.

Don, I’ll defend her. Please tell me how she is any more phoney that Obama? I have a lot of nice things to say about what she has accomplished in her life. Tell me what Obama has accomplished in his life. I bet I hear crickets chirping.

As for hating anything, let’s tally up the number of times we have heard hateful things about eachother’s candidate or party or hate speech in general by the other party. I bet I win. You can bet I’ll use: Rev. Wright, Rep. Lewis, Maxine Waters, Madonna, Bill Maher, Chevy Chase, John Daily, Joy Bahar..just to name a few. Add on the vile comments from the Daily Kos and Huffington Post and some obnoxious liberal bloggers here, and I’m just getting started.

Glad to hear that all the clothes that have been purchased for Palin is going to charity or given away. I’m betting the total dollar amount given away far surpasses Joe Biden’s charitable giving of $3000 in 10 years. Way to go Joe!

Don,

I don’t think you are stable. You need to put down the Kool-Aid my friend. You are a hostile individual who likes to think that their opinion and rage matter more than others. You, and people like you, are the sole reason why our political process doesn’t focus on true issues. You are sad, sad, person that swims in the shallow end of the pool of life.

Post something worth reading…worth thinking about. You spew from your mouth the very thing that you claim to protest. do you honestly think that BO and JB don’t do the same things? Are you that blind…uninformed? Get a grip on reality my friend…politicans are politicians. You can take all that pie in the sky campaign promises from both parties and leave them on the steps of the White House because that is exactly where they will be.

I want to give you the benefit of the doubt…but you are certainly making it hard. You should just stop posting and save face.

don - anytime is a good time to talk about liberals and hate. That’s what they stand for. Yeah, you might quote some isolated example of a Republican doing something. But look at the last 8 years and the utter hatred that has come from the looney left and groups like code pinko, moveon, all the “impeach Bush” bumper stickers, every American newspapers editorial pages, etc. You people are the one’s causing the divisiveness, not Palin.

Don- please learn the facts before stating your mis-information.The tix WERE originally handed out b/c of limited space at the MSU venue.Due to the fact that over 4000 were handed out in a little over an hour, they moved it to Bass Pro’s parking lot…no tickets were required…people showed up at 3:30am there JUST LIKE people showed up so early at the Arch last week.

As for the babies…I’m CERTAIN there were no children under 8 weeks old in front of the Arch last weekend…b/c I didn’t see any on the news.

Don,

1. The rumor about someone saying “kill him” at a rally was proven to be false.
http://www.timesleader.com/news/breakingnews/Secret_Service_says_Kill_him_allegation_unfounded_.html
The Secret Service takes these things pretty seriously. If they didn’t, they’d be putting their own agents in danger.

2. The reason for tickets is that the rally was scheduled to be indoors. The venue can only hold so many people. (If Obama was really worried about threats, he wouldn’t be appearing at unticketed outdoor events.)
-Now that the Palin rally in Springfield is out-of-doors, tickets are not required.

3. As for money spent on the Palin family wardrobe: did you see that Obama spent $140K for the podium and Greek columns at the DNCC? Did you see that Obama is spending ,b>$2 MILLION for the election night ObamaFest?

I’m sure that all those that donated their hard-earned $10 or $20 donations are happy to see that Obama is throwing such an event in Chicago. (Another outdoor event, with supposed threats on his life? -Incredible)

Democrat: Obama’s grandma confirms Kenyan birth
‘This has been a real sham he’s pulled off for the last 20 months’
© 2008 WorldNetDaily
Philip J. Berg
The Pennsylvania Democrat who has sued Sen. Barack Obama demanding he prove his American citizenship – and therefore qualification to run for president – has confirmed he has a recording of a telephone call from the senator’s paternal grandmother confirming his birth in Kenya. The issue of Obama’s birthplace, which he states is Honolulu in 1961, has been raised enough times that his campaign website has posted an image purporting to be of his “Certification of Live Birth” from Hawaii. But Philip J. Berg, a former deputy attorney general for Pennsylvania, told the Michael Savage talk radio program tonight that the document is forged and that he has a tape recording he will soon release. “This has been a real sham he’s pulled off for the last 20 months,” Berg told Savage. “I’ll release it [the tape] in a day or two, affidavits from her talking to a certain person. I heard the tape. She was speaking [to someone] here in the United States.”

He said the telephone call was from Obama’s paternal grandmother affirming she “was in the delivery room in Kenya when he was born Aug. 4, 1961.” Berg said he’s pursuing the issue because of “the most important document in the United States,” the U.S. Constitution.” Nothing is more important than enforcing the Constitution,” he said. “The Constitution’s provisions are very small for qualifying for president. One, be over 35, and he is. Two, be in the country 14 years, and he has been. Three, be a natural-born citizen. He is not.” Obama campaign officials acknowledged the dispute by posting the image purporting to be a copy of his certification of live birth earlier this year. But they’ve declined to return WND requests for comment on the issues. WND reported earlier this week Berg’s claim that Obama has legally “admitted” the accusations included in his lawsuit, including that he was born in Mombosa, Kenya, by not responding to the allegations. Berg filed suit in U.S. District Court in August alleging Obama is not a natural-born citizen and is thus ineligible to serve as president of the United States. His lawsuit is demanding that the courts verify Obama’s original birth certificate. Berg has cited Rule 36 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, which states that unless the accused party provides written answer or objection to charges within 30 days, the accused legally admits the matter.

No hate here but for the life of me I can’t understand how people can defend Republicans in general after the last 8 yrs. They took a huge budget surplus and turned it into a recession approaching depression levels. The Republican President got us into a bottomless pit of a war, Vietnam redux from what I can see, for absolutely no demonstrable reason and they’ve absolutely thrown the Constitution under the bus. Plus, Republicans like Lindsay Graham and others want to throw anyone who disagrees with their self-righteous views on religion, abortion or guns under a bus….nice party you’ve got going there.

Steve: In order to be president of the United States you have to be a U.S. citizen at birth but you don’t have to be born in the U.S. If a United States citizen is on vacation in France and has a baby, the baby is still a U.S. citizen, even though it was born in France.

St Louis welcomes the Palin family back to St Louis. We appreciate your economic support of St Louis by having the Republican party spend over $7,500 on the “first dude” cloths last time here at Plaza Frontnac and staying at the most expensive hotel in St Louis. Unfortunalty, while the Republican party is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in clothing it is not helping me find a job as a laid off white collar worker here in St Louis.

Another question for the Palin family. If you are for education don’t you think your children should be in school? In some areas it is against the law for them not to be in school. I also see your future son-in-law has dropped out of school. Is this your leadership on education? (by the way why did you go to so many colleges and what were your grades?)

I like the majority of America would like to know more about you.

Scott….come in from the cold brother….do you really think Obama could have gotten this far into the election if he weren’t legally eligible to run? Don’t you think he was properly vetted by both his own party and the opposition?

You and the other militia members need to wake up….the real question after Obama is elected is will you all continue chanting the same mantra that you have for the last 8 yrs…”even if you don’t respect the person you should respect the office”….it’s a new day dawning my friends….welcome to the 21st century.

For those questioning Obama and him being a citizen of America he has passed the Secret Service and FBI reviews under the Bush Administration.

Independent, the clothes will be donated..the worth of which will be more than the $3000 in charitable giving that Biden has done in the last 10 years.

As for the children’s education, it has been controversial in Alaska that Alaskans were being billed for her children’s trips and tutoring. I have no problem with the families travelling with their parents if this means that they’ll be together and believe that Obama’s children travel with their parents as well. While I couldn’t find information on current tutoring, I’m betting that it’s no different than when whe was in Alaska.

As for blaming Palin for her future son-in-law dropping out of school..you’re reaching here.

I think it’s interesting that so many people have jumped to Sarah Palin’s defense in an article about the deposition she has to give for her ethics investigation. Say what you will about Barack Obama, he’s only being tried in the court of public opinion, not anywhere else.

Immi Esq,

Where are you getting your information from? SCOTUS has never opined such.
If it was via an Act of Congress, you might want to reread the Constitution. Congress has the authority to create uniform rule for naturalization (Article 1, Section 8), not to redefine the Constitution. As such, we are left with the word naturalization; which is the process of making an alien a citizen. One who has become a citizen by Act of Congress could hardly be called natural-born.

Logicprevails - the Republican party said the cloths at the Convention would be donated to charity nothing about the family cloths or about those used on the campaign trail. These are cloths the Republican party bought, so not a donation from the Palin’s. Also, these are hsir styles bought by the Republican party not the Palin family. Don’t you have a problem with them not wearing their own cloths like the other candidates?

On education - the Obama children have stayed in school during this time and not been on the campaign trail. Including the Michelle Obama stayed in Chicago during the first week of their school to help get them started. I do think it is important to understand how a family educates their children is important. I do wonder about Palin’s oldest daughter and if she is in school. I would have concerns about my future son-in-law if he dropped out of high school as to how he would provide for my grandchild. Don’t you?

Why aren’t we talking about the real story of the day - what are the Palins going to say to the investigator. Why did McCain select a Vice President who started under investigation for breaking ethical laws? The investigation was approved by a Republican majority committee in Alaska not a Democrate majority state.

Here’s a listing of some of the invective from newspaper columnists, mainstream bloggers, television/magazine pundits and late-night/mainstream comedians towards Sarah Palin within the last two months - put in alphabetical order:

airhead, b–ch, Caribou Barbie, Christian Stepford Wife, disgrace to women, dangerous, disabled, dysfunctional, extremist, fanatic, fatal cancer, F— y– (Jon Stewart), gang-rape, ‘her pretense she’s a woman,’ hardcore pornographic centerfold spread, idiot, ignorant, Jesus Freak, kook, liar, ‘man with a v—-a, merciless predator, McCain’s Mean Girl, national joke, opportunist, pig, pretty little gaffe machine, porn actress look, queasy, Republican blow-up doll, reactionary, rube, sputtering ramshackle motorbike repaired in the backyard that is the Sarah Palin candidacy, time bomb, terrible woman from Alaska, trailer trash, Uncle Woman, VILF, whore, xenophobic, yokel & zealot.

Remember, many of these are folks who decry what they call ‘hate-speech’ and make the claim that they are among the most ‘tolerant’ of all of us.

Sad to say, I’ve come to the conclusion that Governor Palin is BETTER than the office for which she’s been ask to serve. We don’t deserve her.

The sheer madness and bile of the media - in ALL of its forms - over the last two months has been the WORST I’ve EVER seen in my 47 years of life.

Sheep…so many sheep. Keep your heads in the sand. Economics are not like a microwave…you can’t push in a change and expect immediate results. We are where we are not because of war, however, it would be stupid not to consider its effects now, but because of liberal ideas in the 90s. Everyone deserves a house…everyone is a winner. Well, we can all see what that has done for our wonderful economy. I can’t wait to stand next to slick willy Clinton, Barney Frank, and Chris Dodd in the soup line. Stop blaming parties and start blaming people.

For those of you that think BO has been properly vetted…? WOW, are you really serious? We, the public, know nothing of who he is, or was. Stupid people are dangerous people and are usually the ones that see everyone else’s faults but their own. Just look at this conversation. You actually have people here that believe R and D care about their well-being. You know what they care about…getting re-elected, getting their pension, getting that “silver spoon.” I find it comical that the things voters should care about are completly tossed aside for issues that should be covered in the National Inquirer…right next to the latest alien abduction.

Wake up America…our country is in dire need of true leadership and we are talking about clothes. Media…do you job and tell the story straight from both sides of the isle so that we can truely make informed decisions because what you have been doing is the biggest joke in history, but we are all going to pay the price for it.

We need a poll will Palin being booed or cheered at the hockey game tonight?

At least the Blues will sell tickets and have people attend early by having Palin drop the puck.

— Jim
11:46 am October 24th, 2008

Why is Sarah dropping the puck? Will she be on skates in a short skirt, or a looooong Blues jersey and tights? Or full gear and pads with helmet? Will she be playing defense or offense or goalie?

The Republicans dropped the ball a long time ago.

Who can afford hockey tickets, anyway? Must be Republicans.

Interesting how this discussion has deflected from the deposition issue which is the reason for the article in the first place. I agree with the commentator who said “Go, Sarah!” Yes, go. Far far away, back to the tundra. Isn’t it nearly moose season? (Not to be confused with the Bull Moose party of TR Roosevelt.)

“3 out of 4 high school dropouts prefer Sarah Palin.”

If they went to Chicago public schools, that’s probably true.

Barack Obama spent four years and almost $100 million on useless psuedo-education projects that didn’t increase student test scores or graduation rates one bit. This probably explains the strange way he bills himself as a “community organizer” but at the same time does everything possible to hide exactly what that work entailed.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122212856075765367.html?mod=rss_opinion_main

It’s almost like Obama hates black city kids. Despite his rhetoric and claims to years of public service, he hasn’t done squat to help any of them.

Obamagirl,

It is great having another uninformed poster on the board today. Sarah Palin has already been cleared on this charge. She is being deposed because she ask for an internal investigation. Nice Try.

As far as Obama goes, he has no experience in making decision of any kind. 130 votes of present. So 130 times he decided to not make a decision. I am assuming it was for political gain so no one could tie him to anything. He may be elected with less experience than anyone every. Sca,

Here’s the link to the cnn.com report that says the panel of investigators definitely found that she violated Alaska state ethics laws but, technically, yes, they didn’t call her out on the firing because they wanted to give her the “benefit of the doubt”.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/10/palin.investigation/index.html?iref=newssearch

In the article, her own party is saying that they’re giving her the benefit of the doubt. That phrase. In quotes. Sca, I encourage you to read the article, which details Todd Palin (not an elected official, by the by) and his role in the firings that occured and the quotes found therein. It also doesn’t really look like she called for the investigation as much as said she would cooperate, as found here - http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/11/palin.investigation/index.html?iref=newssearch

Again, everyone’s entitled to their opinion but when a candidate is found guilty of breaking ethics laws, which, yes, she was, they’re not for me.

— ObamaGirl
12:13 pm October 24th, 2008

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don’t write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don’t set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don’t control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 235 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.

I excluded all but the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.

No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislation’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Don’t you see how the con game that is played on the people by the politicians? Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of Tip O’Neill, who stood up and criticized Ronald Reagan for creating deficits.

The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating appropriations and taxes.

O’neill was the speaker of the House. He was the leader of the majority party. He and his fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetos it, they can pass it over his veto.

REPLACE SCOUNDRELS

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.

I can’t think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.

When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in Lebanon, it’s because they want them in Lebanon.

There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take it.

Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people and they alone are responsible. They and they alone have the power. They and they alone should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided they have the gumption to manage their own employees.

Shame on Palin.

In her interview with Brian Williams, he asked her if conservative religious activists who bombed abortion clinics were terrorists. First she gave a big sigh. “I don’t know if you’re going to use the word ‘terrorist’ there,” she said.

Palin made rape victims pay for their own rape kits as mayor of Wasilla. (And Alaska has the highest percent of rapes per capita in the country.) Palin wants to take away all womens’ rights to an abortion, even in the case of rape, incest, and to protect the health of the mother.

I don’t want a dangerous extremist to be a “fifth melanoma” away from the presidency.

Sca: Sarah Palin has already been cleared on this charge.

Palin = LIAR

Considering that Palin herself said repeatedly that she had been cleared on this charge, I can understand your confusion. Palin is LYING. She was NOT cleared. The legislative committee reported two weeks ago that Palin ABUSED HER POWER.

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
The first investigation by the Alaska state legislature found that Palin abused her power in her efforts to get her former brother-in-law, a state trooper, fired.

— Lisa12

Shame on Lisa12 for spreading such lies.

The latest myth touted on liberal blogs that’s bubbled its way into mainstream news headlines is the one where Sarah Palin ordered rape victims to pay for their own rape kits.

“Palin’s Town Used to Bill Victims for Rape Kits” was headline on a Thursday USA Today news story. Reporters Ken Dilanian and Matt Kelley used a 2000 quote from former Wasilla Police Chief to blame Palin for an outdated, now illegal policy she never supported.

“In the past, we’ve charged the cost of exams to victim’s insurance companies when possible,” former chief Charlie Fannon told the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman in 2000 as then-Democratic Governor Tony Knowles was signing legislation to make local police branches cover the costs of the kits.

“I just don’t want to see any more burden on the taxpayer,” Fannon said at the time, which was reprinted in the USA Today.

Fannon went on to say that he believed the criminal should be held responsible for the costs, which run from $5,000-$14,000 per year for all assault cases. USA Today did not reprint those quotes from the interview, though. “The forensic exam is just one part of the equation,” Fannon said at the time “I’d like to see the courts make these people pay restitution for these things.”

Liberal blogs like HuffingtonPost, DailyKos and Salon.com are using this interview the Frontier conducted with Fannon to accuse Palin, who was mayor of Wasilla from 1996-2002, of supporting making rape victims pay for their rape kits– a charge vehemently denied by her aides.

“It would appear that Sarah Palin has a problem with Rape,” blogger Steven R wrote on the DailyKos. “In addition to not supporting the availability of Abortion for victims of Rape, Mayor Sarah Palin, Maverick, Fiscal Conservative, also had citizens of Wasilla pick up the bill for their own forensics tests.”

Palin spokeswoman Maria Cornella told USA Today that Palin, “does not believe, nor has ever believed, that rape victims should have to pay for an evidence-gathering test.”

The Truth,

Nice try.

New Evidence: Palin Had Direct Role In Charging Rape Victims For Exams
However, recently released budget documents show that Sarah Palin directly shifted the cost of the rape kits from the police department to the victims in her budget for fiscal year 2000. If what a former city council member told CNN is true, that “Palin would review each department’s budget line by line,” then she either knew about the funding shift and approved it or was negligent in her role as state executive.

The Republican party spending over $150,000 on cloths and other items for the Palin family is not poor judgement and outside of average America I don’t know what is. Until now the highest paid staff on the McCain campaign are Palin’s traveling makeup artist ($22,800 for 2 weeks of work) and also up there is her hair stylest ($10,000 for 2 weeks of work)

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/pains-makeup-stylist-fetches-highest-salary-in-2-week-period/?ei=5070&emc=eta1

A person who spends this much on these items is out of touch with America. If you say otherwise, please explain how it is not.

Now I understand why the McCain campaign is loosing.

Are there any women out there that spend $150,000 on cloths a year, $22,800 in 2 weeks on makup, $10,000 on hair in 2 weeks???? If so, I am then gender bias or probaly more bias against you for being extreemly rich when you say you are one of the average families. My family can’t afford this much and would need to look to see if we have spent that much in our life time.

Independent, so you think the government or someone should help you find a job? Hmm…methinks you’re a Democrat..not an Independent.

Women are held to a higher standard when it comes to how they look. We all know that. Remember the press dogging (no pun intended) Hillary about her hair, makeup, and clothes? Now, it sure seems to me that the amount is excessive, but the clothes will be donated so I don’t really have a problem with that. I have more of a problem with Obama buying votes with his $800,000 donation to ACORN, a group promotes Obama’s presidency. It has been reported, also, that Obama wears $1500-$2000 suits and McCain wears $500 shoes. While Michelle Obama may have worn a $125 dress from White House/Black Market on the View, any bets as to the value of her other clothes?

Palin’s kids education certainly should be a concern…for the Palins. As for her future son-in-law, any conversation they have had with him or his family should be off limits to the press. I think the Wall Street Journal link provided in this blog regarding the Obama/Ayers connection to education should be an eye-opener to all. Perhaps someone can shoot holes in that for me and tell me why it is false or a wrong assumption to make that Obama is a radical when it comes to education.

Radar, while I don’t believe the birth certificate issue has legs, I do wonder how Obama did get this far. Afterall, he accomplished nothing as a Senator but wrote two books and speaks well. I’m still waiting for someone to tell me what he has accomplished and will continue to wait. He promises a lot for everyone but the wealthy and corporations that employ people…but so did Castro.

Jane, Palin didn’t spend the money..her campaign did. Palin, in an interview yesterday with Hannity, said she typically got her clothes from a consignment shop..and named the shop. I haven’t seen the press come out with a story yet on whether the shop exists or whether the shop disagrees with it…and if not, I bet the story is true. At least she probably got the name correct..as opposed to Biden, who invited people to join him for lunch at a diner whose name changed 15 years ago. WHO is out of touch?

Lisa12, up until last year I believe, Missouri charge victims for their rape kits. Actually, I think it was the victims insurance company as it was in Alaska. There is a federal requirement in 2009 I believe that will require all states to pay for the kits..so it’s common practice still. Now, if the victims don’t have insurance, I’m not sure if they are still required to pay for them. I believe no victim should pay for their own kit but to blame Palin for this is silly.

Politicians make chumps of us all. As long as you buy into one of these political parties the way they behave and play politics with Americans you’re all being led to your Matrix style pod to live your lives in a wishful dream. Break out of this crap and have your own thoughts, and most importantly have and live your own life your way, and screw politicians and their propaganda system better known in this country as the media!

George Will was on one of those hip, funny, pop culture shows on comedy central this past summer where he said the most profound thing about politics I think I’ve ever heard. He called it our individual way of being frustrated and laying blame for all that’s wrong. Dems hate and trash Republicans, and vs. Yup, well, that fixes things now doesn’t it?

We sit around and bemoan the fact that Washington is broken, and we need a change that matters. Or how about Country First! As much as we hear of those slogans the change is always more self serving than selfless in service to our country.

Real change is not coming. Blame is childish. They own our lives. They just nearly self destructed this country by their vote buying schemes. Am I the only one that gets this? So it seems. Until my view becomes predominant we’re destined for this crap all our lives.

Both political parties be dammed!

I grow increasingly weary of the hostile nature taken on both sides of this argument. Let me state up front that I am an Independent (yes, the guy both sides are courting). I have voted for John Danforth and Thomas Eagleton (yes that makes me an old guy). I look for a candidate who can intelligently discuss issues (e.g. the Bush Doctrine) and tells me what is right about them, NOT what is wrong with the other guy. It should be obvious where I am going with this, yes I am voting Obama. It is a shame that the party of Lincoln and (Teddy) Roosevelt has prostituted itself to the ultra-Right the way it has in this election. Just my opinion. I will continue to look at all the candidates in the future but I am really getting skeptical about the entire process.

Funny that this makes headlines in the “unbiased media” while Obama takes a little trip to Hawaii to “visit his grandmother”, and no one in the press finds it interesting (or newsworthy for that matter) that Obama has been sued by lawyers representing the Democratic Party claiming his birth certificate has been doctored and that he is actually not a natural born citizen of the U.S.A. but rather was born in Kenya and had documents changed to say he was born in Honolulu, HI. This allegation has yet to be proven false, but still the news outlets keep it hush-hush. It would make sense that if Obama had to be deposed, or had any legal naturalization concerns he may need to travel to Hawaii to “straighten it out”. Come on reporters! Tell us what is REALLY going on!

lets talk about her own troopergate and how she has attempted to censor the public library in wassilla and how she took millions in fed tax money for the bridge to no where and then used it for other purposes. let’s remember she is supprting a current sitting president who thru his lies deciet and corruption has cost the lives of thousands of soldiers and destroyed the lives of millions of other people for his own greedy self. you can not over look this,as supporting this kind of person tells you alot about her as a person.

For persons born on or after November 14, 1986, a person is a U.S. citizen if all of the following are true:

1. One of the person’s parents was a U.S. citizen when the person in question was born;
2. The citizen parent lived at least 5 years in the United States before his or her child’s birth; and
3. At least 2 of these 5 years in the United States were after the citizen parent’s 14th birthday.

A person’s record of birth abroad, if registered with a U.S. consulate or embassy, is proof of his or her citizenship. Such a person may also apply for a passport or a Certificate of Citizenship to have a record of his or her citizenship. Such documentation is often useful to prove citizenship in lieu of the availability of an American birth certificate. (Acquisition of U.S. Citizenship By a Child Born Abroad, U.S. Department of State)

This answers the question I think, since his mother meets all 3 criteria.

What is interesting is that Palin is apparently the Republican presidential candidate here - no one has mentioned McCain. Is Palin running against Obama or is McCain?

A bi-partisan commission in Alaska (8 republicans, 4 democrats) found Palin had abused her power. That’s why she’s being deposed. If they hadn’t made those findings, there wouldn’t be any deposition. They aren’t doing it for fun.

Other things that would have been discovered had the McCain campaign even bothered to turn over a little bit of topsoil in vetting Palin are discussed in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03fcGelz8Hw

Palin is not the only reason McCain is losing, but she is the gigantic reason that lifelong Republican politicians like Colin Powell and former Massachusetts mayor William Weld are giving for publicly endorsing Obama.

Nice price to pay for a wardrobe Sarah ($150,000). I need a hockey-moms salary. Anywayz, how can one advocate freedom of choice education for disabled kids (not that they’re not deserving) like Palin did today, while kids now and days, as well as when I was in school, cant or couldn’t choose what schools we wanted to go to????? I’ll tell you why. Education systems (from elementary to college) are designed and priced to keep certain classes of people OUT!!!!! For instance if I want to be close to downtown St. Louis attractions but don’t like the inner city school system, why cant I send my kid to a district in West County????? They did however temporarily allow this with the deseg program. However I don’t think the program is still in effect today and kids like me who stayed close to the city but still in the “suburbs” (Jennings) had to suffer with lack luster financing and teaching from teachers 5 years or less away from retirement. You think they gave a damn about my future. NOPE!!! And neither does this hee-haw Palin or rich b**ch McCain. Obama/Biden 08′

Well the entire issue hinges on the accuracy of the “Kenyan birth” but then John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone which could be stretched to be not on American soil as his “actual” birth was not on a military post but at a non-base hospital. The argument is moot I think. We spend far too much time in this country arguing over the letter of the law instead of it’s spirit. Thanks for the discussion and opportunity to research something interesting.

What is it about elections that bring out the worst in us Americans? The international community doesn’t need a show like SNL to make themselves laugh. All they need to do is watch American TV news and read our papers. Let us be civil. The only thing that is going to get us through this financial mess and the two wars, working on two more with Iran and Pakistan, is unity. We need to embrace our differences in order to be a strong moral force in the world. It is our differences, not our “sameness”, that made this country the envy of the world. Lets prove to the world that when we say, “God Bless America” we really mean it. Let us prove to the world that “God Bless America” are not just words politicians use to get elected. We are losing sight that we are all God’s children whether we are Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist, agnostic…. God loves us all the same. Obviously or He would not have sent His only Son to die for our sins.

The United States does not recognize dual citizenship. You must renounce your other country when you become a US citizen here. If you obtain a passport and citizenship of another country your US citizenship is gone. Barack Obama should explain why he renewed his Indonesian passport as an adult. That passport and Indonesian citizenship means Obama is no longer a US citizen.

If the media was as diligent with Obama as they are with Palin and McCain, these stories would be covered. The media loves Obama and treats him with kid gloves.

Here’s an intelligent woman’s point of view. Palin is a poor excuse for a candidate and she most certainly doesn’t represent the majority of women voters. The neo-fascist-come-lately quasi-christian, left-wing faux-conservative re-pube-licken’s seem to think that any barbie doll at all will do, when it comes to paying lip-service to equality.

THIS life-long conservative Republican has donated the maximum contribution to Barack Obama’s campaign, and I’m going to wear my Republican’s for Obama tee-shirt as close to the polls as I can before I cast my vote for the Obama-Biden ticket.

At this point, I’m waiting patiently for Palin to try to lie her way through the deposition, because she may fail to realize that attorney’s never ask questions that they don’t already have the answer for. One more lie and Palin’s goose is cooked.

This is the only candidate who hasn’t released her medical records. This is the youngest candidate who is presumably healthy, since she states that she so recently “gave birth”. I believe those medical records cannot be released because her actual medical records will show that she lied about the baby, for whatever motivation. It doesn’t matter to me. At this point, with the economy destroyed in 8 short years, ANY Democrat is better than ANY re-pube-licken, ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

I can’t wait for the true Republican reform so I can get my party back again. As a real conservative Republican, I’m incensed at the behavior of the faux-conservatives who stole power, albeit briefly. Puh-leeze! Read the Constitution of the United States of America. READ IT!
