Palin reported to give deposition here, before dropping puck

News accounts, including on CNN, report that Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will be doing more than dropping the puck during her visit to St. Louis later today.

Various sources (including some partisan ones) say that the Alaska governor also will be deposed by lawyers in connection with the “Troopergate” controversy, which centers on allegations that she and her husband had tried to use her clout to get her ex-brother-in-law fired as an Alaska state trooper.

St. Louis sources say the deposition will taken in Palin’s hotel room here. (For security and news reasons, we are NOT disclosing where she is staying.)

The regional spokesman for the McCain-Palin campaign declined comment yesterday on the matter.

According to MSNBC’s First Read, Palin is to be deposed “by the independent investigator working for the Alaska personnel board. The interview will be under oath.”

Todd Palin is to be deposed separately.

Her personal attorney, Thomas Van Flein, was traveling on the campaign plane Thursday, according to news reports.

UPDATE — At the moment, Palin is in Springfield preparing for what is expected to be a huge rally of supporters. Here’s from the Associated Press:

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Dozens of people bundle up to wait almost nine hours to get a good spot to see GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin at a campaign rally in Springfield.

The Alaska governor is scheduled to begin her speech at noon Friday at a rally in the parking lot of Bass Pro Outdoor World. Some spectators braved a stiff wind and chilly air to arrive by 3:30 a.m., long before gates opened at 9 a.m.

The event was initially scheduled for an arena at Missouri State University. But after all 4,000 tickets were snapped up within 90 minutes Wednesday, the Republican Party moved the event to Bass Pro’s massive parking area to accommodate a larger crowd.

Speeches in advance of Palin’s address are set to begin at 11 a.m.

The United States does not recognize dual citizenship. You must renounce your other country when you become a US citizen here. If you obtain a passport and citizenship of another country your US citizenship is gone. Barack Obama should explain why he renewed his Indonesian passport as an adult. That passport and Indonesian citizenship means Obama is no longer a US citizen.

If the media was as diligent with Obama as they are with Palin and McCain, these stories would be covered. The media loves Obama and treats him with kid gloves.

I’m not from your state, but having read several of these comments I am utterly shocked and amazed. I have never read such ignorant, ill-informed and poorly written statements in my 60-odd years.

I have spent time in St. Louis, although not in probably 20 years. It’s a shame that the populace has devolved into a screaming mass of hysterical, hypocritical Republicans who’ve never read either a book or a newspaper.

I wish you all well, but I fear you and for you.

Don’t worry Steve665, they’ve got bigger fish to fry with that Wing Nut that faked her attack…this goofball actually carved a backwards letter B in her own face. Now that’s truly wingnutty!

Please. Please. Please… Please do not corrupt the good game of hockey with your backwards thinking.

If you need to drop pucks anywhere, stay in Alaska. Don’t think hockey fans want to hear about your political views. They want to see a game. They paid money for the Blues (or Rangers or whomever), and they don’t need pregame politics.

She is a woman very much in the public eye. Her candidacy is going to stir every emotion, negative or positive, that is inherent in the political arena.
Having said that I do not understand why she continues to expose her younger children to events where she is sure to elicit negative responses. I feel for her young daughter who surely does not understand, nor will she even start to shows signs of digesting the symptoms of such exposure, until later in life.

Here’s an intelligent woman’s point of view. Palin is a poor excuse for a candidate and she most certainly doesn’t represent the majority of women voters. The neo-fascist-come-lately quasi-christian, left-wing faux-conservative re-pube-licken’s seem to think that any barbie doll at all will do, when it comes to paying lip-service to equality.

THIS life-long conservative Republican has donated the maximum contribution to Barack Obama’s campaign, and I’m going to wear my Republican’s for Obama tee-shirt as close to the polls as I can before I cast my vote for the Obama-Biden ticket.

At this point, I’m waiting patiently for Palin to try to lie her way through the deposition, because she may fail to realize that attorney’s never ask questions that they don’t already have the answer for. One more lie and Palin’s goose is cooked.

This is the only candidate who hasn’t released her medical records. This is the youngest candidate who is presumably healthy, since she states that she so recently “gave birth”. I believe those medical records cannot be released because her actual medical records will show that she lied about the baby, for whatever motivation. It doesn’t matter to me. At this point, with the economy destroyed in 8 short years, ANY Democrat is better than ANY re-pube-licken, ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

I can’t wait for the true Republican reform so I can get my party back again. As a real conservative Republican, I’m incensed at the behavior of the faux-conservatives who stole power, albeit briefly. Puh-leeze! Read the Constitution of the United States of America. READ IT!
