Palin’s Springfield rally jumps to Bass Pro Shop

After a rush on tickets, Republican veep nominee Sarah Palin’s Friday appearance in Springfield, Mo. has been moved from the campus of Missouri State University to the parking lot of the local Bass Pro Shop.

The campaign cited “overwhelming demand of the people in Springfield wanting to hear some straight talk” for moving to a larger site.

The new location means that tickets are no longer required, but those who picked them up already can bring them to Friday’s rally for access to a “special reserved section.”

This is not the first time this election season that Republicans have used the popular sporting-goods store, which has its corporate headquarters in Springfield, as a campaign venue.

In August, Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn stumped for John McCain at the Springfield shop.  On Tuesday, Palin’s husband Todd — a championship snowmobile driver and commercial fisherman — stopped by a Bass Prop Shop in Denver.

Glad to hear that McCain is being supported by Senator Tom Coburn, the one-man wrecking crew who has filibustered the Breast Cancer Environmental Research Act for the last EIGHT years in the Senate. Breast cancer patients like myself have been held hostage to the GOP’s obstructionist tactics for years, as they have slashed National Cancer Institute Research funding and blocked the Democrats from passing this vital bill which would help scientists determine the root causes of breast cancer (www.lesspinkmoreresearch.org). Hope everyone enjoys the Grand Oil Party’s pit-bull and one-trick-pony show for the next two weeks!

Obama is coming

Obama’s expected victory in US election could signal bad times for Israel

Unless we see a dramatic and unexpected development, in about two weeks we shall have a new president in the United States: Barak Obama. Did I say “we”? Yes, we. The identity of the man who will be entering the White House and staying there in the coming years is more important for us and for our lives here than one could imagine.

Seven million Israeli citizens go about their daily lives while having no clue as to how much their lives and wellbeing depend on the US, and first and foremost on the person who sits in the Oval Office. http://www.ynetnews.com/Ext/Comp/ArticleLayout/CdaArticlePrintPreview/1,2506,L-3611497,00.html
Report: Iranian Officials Recommend Preemptive Strike Against Israel
Wednesday, October 22, 2008
FC1
Top officials in Iran are proposing a preemptive strike against Israel to avoid an assault on its nuclear reactors, Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reported Wednesday.
Senior Tehran official Dr. Seyed G. Safavi said at a recent briefing in London that the proposal followed threats by Israeli authorities, but a possible preemptive strike against Israel has not yet been incorporated into Iranian policy.
Israeli Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz said in June that Israel would be forced to strike Iran’s nuclear reactor if Tehran continues to pursue its controversial uranium enrichment program, Haaretz reported.

Hey, give-me-a-brain, can I expect a robo-call from the RNC and McSame/Palin summarizing the hysteria in your post within the next 24 hours? And it’s probably Lieberman’s turn at the mic. I will wait by the phone.

“as they have slashed National Cancer Institute Research funding”

Not saying your lying, but prove it. Show me line item funding dollars from year to year.

Oh my. Busy day for Sarah on Friday! Sarah and Todd will have depositions on Friday for the Troopergate investigation. Will she still have time to visit Springfield?

It’s good to finally see a positive story about the crowds that go to see Palin. She’s been drawing large crowds wherever she goes but of course that story gets little press. I would agree that her crowds pale in comparison to the size of the crowd under the arch, but when you’re not promising handouts, the crowds tend to be a little more sparse.

Penelope, those that do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it. We are still at war…but you call it “hysteria”. It will be interesting to see what you call the next terror attack or crisis that Biden has promised.

Why are you interested in what I’ll call it and what does that have to do with give-me-a-brain’s post? I know we’re at war. It’s costing my kids and me several million a week. Too bad we shot our wad bringing down Saddam and rebuilding his country so it’s a comfy haven for the terrorists that streamed across its borders to kill our servicemen and women, all while we should have used our resources to find a kill Bin Laden. Seven years ago, the stage was set to make our presence felt in the middle east and to let those terrorists know not to mess with the U.S. by killing the mastermind and dismantling the organization so it wouldn’t splinter and spread. Instead, we mis-directed our soldiers to a place where they could become targets instead of keeping them on the offensive to hunt down and kill Bin Laden. I know my history. And when it happens again, if I’m lucky enough to be somewhere else, I will call it an obvious result of Bush’s failed policy on terrorism.

Penelope, you do not remember your history: Clinton had Bin Laden in his sights but failed to pull the trigger. Nice try.
