Singer Carole King, former congressman Roemer to campaign in Mo. for Obama
King
Grammy-winning singer Carole King will be in eastern Missouri later this week to campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
(For the young readers, King is an icon of the ’70s and is best known for such hit songs as “It’s Too Late” and “I Feel the Earth Move.” She is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.)
King’s tour runs Tuesday and Wednesday. She is to stop in Louisiana, Mo., Hannibal, Kirksville, Columbia, Camdenton, Cuba, Farmington and Cape Girardeau. The campaign has yet to release more details.
Meanwhile, former U.S. Rep. Tim Roemer, D-Indiana, is to be in western Missouri today on behalf of Obama.
Roemer is to visit Springfield, Joplin and Forsyth “to discuss Senator Obama’s commitment to veterans health care,” the campaign said.
Roemer served in the U.S. House from 1991-2003 and was a member of the 9/11 Commission. He now serves as the President of the Center for National Policy where he focuses on strengthening national security.

The Democratic Party has routinely and historically railed against nuclear power, more oil drilling, and coal plants. Obama says he “favors nuclear power”(even though he said a year ago he doesn’t favor nuclear power), “more drilling”(even though he said we can save just as much energy from inflating our tires as we can from drilling for more oil) and “clean coal”(even though his running mate Biden shouted emphatically at an individual recently at a campaign rally that he and Obama will not build any “clean coal” plants).
Are we really dumb enough to believe this cast of characters will seriously bring about “energy independence” for this country
Obama has hooked many with the false lure his tax plan helps them.
First of all, Obama’s liberal voting record clearly shows he has voted to raise taxes repeatedly(including raising taxes on the middle class).
Secondly, Obama, even currently, clearly favors some substantial taxes on the poor and middle class(such as high gasoline taxes—which obviously affect everyone—McCain has proposed a gas tax holiday while Obama vehemently opposes any such gas tax relief)
Third, Obama’s claim he will give 95% of Americans a “tax cut” is a mathematical fraud and impossibility because only 70% of Americans pay taxes.
Fourth, Obama’s high taxes will gore the poor and middle class deeply when:
A)High taxes cause employers to pay less in wages and health care benefits
B)High taxes cause prices to soar because tax costs are passed on to consumers
C)High taxes cause employers to close their doors because they no longer will be economically competitive—especially in today’s stressed economy.

The voters recognize what’s going on and they reject it.
It must be terribly frustrating for the FUDders

Cheer President Elect Obama
I’m scared McCain is going to lose this state.
On energy independence, Obama may be changing his perspective based on the changing nature of the energy needs of the country. He recognizes that we need a long-term solution, that it won’t be easy, and that we will have to make some sacrifices. This shows me that Obama has brain that can learn more and adjust to the changing realities. This is a major difference to McCain, who has tunnel vision and is too close to the oil lobby and Palin doesn’t even admit that climate change is happening. And the “sacrifices” Obama is referring to are not dead and wounded American troops fighting wars for oil companies or the loss of billions of dollars and resources to fight them.
I’m scared (or shoud I say afraid) that McCain could win Missouri. Or, the electoral college for that matter.
Obama has no record to run on. STL, mlgb, suzyjax, what did Obama accomplish as a senator? My guess is that it doesn’t matter? Perhaps you like how nice a speaker he is? Perhaps you like his mantra of “change”?
Let’s be real here. The tax cuts he is proposing and the spending he is suggesting will not come to pass. You cannot give tax breaks to 65% of the population and tax refunds to the other 30% (that don’t pay any taxes) then propose $800 billion to $1 trillion in new spending in this economy. Add in the $700 billion bailout and the $150 billion stimulus package that the Democrats want and you’ve got one heck of a problem paying for it.
Reality Check, please understand that the Democrats do not look at the past, they only look forward with their party and candidates. They don’t care about Obama’s past nor do they care to look at our history. They refuse to look at what high taxes for companies and the upper class do to our country and will be doomed to repeat it. They refuse to look at whether or not their candidate worked with a killer (and yes, Ayers did kill and was thrilled to be let off on a technicality) or was married by an anti-American racist. This doesn’t matter to them because they lack character. They see their candidate as a modern day Robin Hood, robbing from the rich to pay the poor…because it’s “fair”. They are quick to call Bush a former coke head or alcoholic..but can get past Obama’s ADMITTED marijuana and cocaine use.
This weekend’s hypocrisy says it all. Colin Powell is supporting Obama, saying that Obama is ready to be President…and in the same statement says he doesn’t think Palin is ready. Huh?

Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, played for a fool and didn’t even know it on the last SNL and following from the VP debate
“Well, our founding fathers were very wise there in allowing through the Constitution much flexibility there in the office of the vice president. And we will do what is best for the American people in tapping into that position and ushering in an agenda that is supportive and cooperative with the president’s agenda in that position. Yeah, so I do agree with him that we have a lot of flexibility in there, and we’ll do what we have to do to administer very appropriately the plans that are needed for this nation. And it is my executive experience that is partly to be attributed to my pick as V.P. with McCain, not only as a governor, but earlier on as a mayor, as an oil and gas regulator, as a business owner. It is those years of experience on an executive level that will be put to good use in the White House also.”
