Mayor Francis Slay has sent yet another message to potential opponents: Plan on making a viable challenge?

Better bring the Brink’s truck.

Slay certainly did, raising just over $400,000 in the last three months, his campaign filings show.

Much of the money came from big donors, like developers Clayco and Paul McKee. A fourth of the total raised for the quarter — $100,000 — was courtesy of one check from wealthy school-choice advocate Rex Sinquefield.

The mayor’s financial report also shows he did not scrimp on himself. Slay has apparently already bought his tickets for next year’s Major League All-Star game at Busch Stadium — paying $1,150 for an undisclosed number of tickets.

It is possible, however, that the report was mislabeled, and the purchase was actually for tickets to this year’s All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.

Slay’s financial report shows that he was in New York this summer, spending $150 for a “business luncheon” at basketball great Michael Jordan’s steak house in Manhattan.

According to the restaurant’s menu, his Airness’ lunch offerings include everything from chilled jumbo shrimp with special “23″ cocktail sauce, to a $44 ribeye steak.

For the bench players, an $8 “Michael’s Marconi and Cheese” is available.
