WashU administrator Steve Givens has seen and done it all around these debates. After all, this is the 3rd debate he’s had a major hand in planning.

But even he had an unexpected surprise today. The Daily Show’s John Oliver taped a small segment with Givens. It was during a lock-down of the debate hall. Oliver wanted to sneak into the hall.

When Givens told Oliver he could not go there, Oliver dug into his wallet and asked him if “Mr. Jackson” would change his mind. Givens asked him if he meant Mr. Washington, and pointed out that Oliver was holding up a $1 bill.

In any case, Givens didn’t budge. But he says that a Secret Service person watching the exchange was suspicious about what was going on until he was told that it was a comedic skit being taped for the Comedy Central show.

“It’ll probably get cut,” Givens said tonight while standing in spin alley.

But Oliver told him that if it does air, it will do so Monday night.

We’ll be watching, Steve. Now get some sleep.

It is beyond me how anyone in America can wake up each morning and think we can continue to live as we have been for the past 8 years. It’s time to be truthful to yourself that what we have does not work - and there is evidence of that now more than ever! More of the same is something that I certainly do not want to experience. How we have let it go so far…

In Barack Obama’s speech from the Democratic National Convention he stated,”..the record’s clear: John McCain has voted with George Bush ninety percent of the time. Senator McCain likes to talk about judgment, but really, what does it say about your judgment when you think George Bush has been right more than ninety percent of the time? I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready to take a ten percent chance on change.” - Senator Barack Obama
I have to wonder about Sarah Palin’s judgement and the judgement of the American people who support her. Clearly she did not speak as though she could handle herself as spokesperson for the United States. Certainly she did not speak to mainstream America - HOW COULD YOU LISTEN TO HER? I am embarassed for those people who think that Sarah Palin can possible represent a change for the better - obviously not.
