WSJ shines spotlight on McCain joint operation in Mo and Iowa

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting piece this weekend on Gentry Collins, the Iowa-Missouri overseer for Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

(A hat tip to JohnCombest.com, for first pointing out it out.)

The story appears to confirm what some of us in the Show-Me State suspected and have hinted at in numerous stories: Missouri GOP executive director Jared Craighead appears to be the de facto McCain chief in Missouri.

The story also has an interesting aside on an episode that occurred between McCain and U.S. Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond, R-Mo.  The two men’s historically frosty relationship is widely known among reporters and Republican insiders. (Bond initially supported former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for president, and switched to McCain only after the mayor dropped out.)

Darn, when I saw the headline about a “McCain joint operation” I thought his campaign was giving away weed. Now THAT would be an interesting strategy …

“How inconsiderate of moveon.org and the Obama campaign to time the registration drive so close to the election. If they had started a month earlier, our overworked election officials wouldn’t be in this jam.”

The registration drive has been going on for MONTHS! You are simply hearing about it now because the deadline is approaching. Granted some will wait until the last minute but hundreds of thousands have already registered this year.

Its obvious the GOP can’t win so they put resources in Missouri, and split them from Iowa where Obama is leading. The upshot is that the GOP has given up on Iowa, similarly to what they did in Michigan.

My comments are about Gov.Palins recent negative comments. She has the odacity to criticize someone when her own use of power is now in the hands
of a court in Alaska. Secondly, it is well known that image of a goody two
shoes mother is also false. The son who recently enter the military was a
complete maverick in his city; an arrest record with a stipulation enter the army or jail. While she proudly says she watched enter the military. The daughter thats pregnant it is said was living a very conspious
life style ,all while she(mother) winks on tv and speaks to Joe 6 pack. Are
you kidding me? All of the candidates seemed to have a problem with truth, and we accept it,which does speak well of us.
