This evening, Secretary of State Robin Carnahan issued a statement in which she attacked “misleading ‘robo-calls’ from around Missouri which give voters incorrect information about the date and time of tomorrow’s General Election.”

“The complaints were immediately forwarded to the U.S. Attorney’s office for further investigation,” her staff said in a statement.

“ ‘I have zero tolerance for any person or group who is spreading false information about the upcoming Election. There is no place in Missouri for this type of intimidation,’ Carnahan said.

” ‘I will work to identify and prosecute anyone attempting to deprive voters of their rights on Election Day. The best way for Missourians to combat this type of misinformation is to talk with their neighbors and family and make sure they know when to go to the polls and what to bring with them. ‘ ”

Here’s the basic information, as reported by Carnahan’s office:

“Polls are open in Missouri from 6am to 7pm on Tuesday, November 4, and any voter in line by 7pm will be allowed to vote. To report prerecorded calls containing false information, or any other Election Day issues, voters may call the Election Division Hotline at 1-800-NOW-VOTE. Voters can locate their polling place, find out what type of identification to bring, and view a sample ballot at www.GoVoteMissouri.com.

All ROBO calls of a political or solicitation nature should be banned. Most of the calls I receive are outrageous.

The calls I get from the VA and other medical providers, however, should not be banned.
