Maida Coleman next to jump into mayor’s race?
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Coleman
Word is that State Sen. Maida Coleman — her career in Jefferson City facing its term limit — could be next in line to challenge Mayor Francis Slay.
With filing opening today, Slay has already one challenger — former Alderman Irene J. Smith, who also ran against Slay in 2005.
Now, Coleman appears poised to also enter the race.
Taking on Slay will be tough for any city official. The mayor has strong name recognition, and more than $1 million in his bank account.
Coleman has flirted with running for other offices before — such city license collector and state auditor, both of which she ultimately decided against.

> Isn’t Kasoff the paid webmaster of MayorSlay.com?
No. I have some familiarity with both people, and they couldn’t be more different. The paid webmaster of MayorSlay.com is Richard Callow, owner of the Public Eye PR firm, who is either married to or in an otherwise committed relationship with Slay’s deputy mayor Barbara Geisman. He is mainstream city liberal for his over-50 age group. Nick Kasoff is a former Republican candidate from west county who is now an independent conservative.
Not buying it,
What tax giveaways? Take a look at today’s post on Thompson Coburn getting a tax break so they wouldn’t leave the city–and now Slay gets a hefty donation. Looks to me like funds taken out of city coffers were diverted to Slay’s campaign fund. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck….
