Local members of MoveOn, that pro-Democratic, pro-progressive group that campaigned hard for now-President-elect Barack Obama is holding a meeting/celebration Thursday night in St. Louis County.

The event is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Natural Bridge & Lucas and Hunt.

Organizers say in an e-mail that the gathering is “to kick off a huge new campaign to help Barack pass a bold, progressive agenda. And we’ll celebrate our win with good food and fun people!”

When you’re a victor, the partying never ends.

Nick, Tim is referring to the primary, where McCain was certified for public financing, secured a loan on the promise of repayment by public financing, then opted out once he emerged as the nominee apparent. Technically, that’s illegal.

McCain also avoided having to present a certain amount of signatures to get on the ballot in several states because publicly financed candidates can avoid this requirement. Ordinarily, this would have taken up a lot of staff time or millions to pay signature gatherers to get him on the ballot.
