Nixon enlists Wayne Goode for budget duty
With tax revenues dropping and budget troubles looming, Gov.-elect Jay Nixon has turned to a veteran number-cruncher to help him get a handle on the state’s finances.
Former Sen. Wayne Goode, D-Normandy, will serve as Nixon’s deputy transition director for budget review.
Goode was a legislator for 40 years before retiring in 2004. His tenure included stints heading appropriations committees in both the House and Senate.
Goode is known for slogging through complex issues and calmly synthesizing the information so that it’s understandable. He has rewritten whole chapters of law on social services, education, solid waste and mental health, to name a few areas.
Nixon said Goode is “uniquely qualified to help develop a budget that will move our state forward.” He said Goode would be looking for ways “to provide more efficient service.”

A main reason why term limits was a bad idea. We lost expert legislators who understand how the government operated and replaced his like with ideologues who knew little about people and less about governing.
Good(e) choice by Governor-elect Nixon.
