Another Cubs controversy: Blago arrest has Wrigley ties
As if getting swept in the playoffs and enduring a 100-year World Series drought weren’t enough for the Cubs, now the Cardinals arch rival has hit yet another benchmark of notoriety: A role in the corruption scandal that has engulfed Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
According to the 78-page affidavit unsealed this morning after the governor was arrested by federal agents at his Chicago home, Blagojevich was dangling state assistance for Wrigley Field in attempt to gain influence at the Chicago Tribune, which is owned by the same parent company as the Cubs.
From the affidavit:
Blagojevich together with others, offered to, and threatened to withhold from, the Tribune Company substantial state financial assistance in connection with Wrigley Field … believed to be worth at least $100 million to the Tribune Company, for the private purpose of inducing the controlling shareholder of the Tribune Company to fire members of the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune, a newspaper owned by the Tribune Company, who were responsible for editorials critical of Rod Blagojevich.”

Looks like someone subpoenaed his emails, too.
Ha! I said last week that his plea for Ryan Clemency was to set precedent for his later pardon or clemency.
How many degrees of separation are there between Blags and Obama?
It would require the willing suspension of disbelief to believe that two high ranking dems in IL could be so clue less as to what the other was doing.
After all, it is the Chicago Way.
willing suspension of disbelief…
…like when the P-D Editorialists carefully parse the forthcoming imaginary “arms-length relationship” that Obama maintained with both Blagojevich and Rezko ??
===
I have never been comfortable with Blagojevich.
Something about him always made me think of slime.
Blags arrest has ties to the President Elect, Tony Rezko, silencing the media, massive corrupt state officials, and the Post Disgrace leads a story on his ties to the Cubs?
Si, How you wish.
Finally, this man is behind bars where he belongs. This man along with his corrupt and evil Democratic ilk have caused so more havoc in the lives of good honorable people who choose to do good including Barack Obama who these of this Democratic ilk all despised.
Tables are turning every where, they have been and will continue to and, all those who have done so much evil others attempting to do what was good and right who are thinking that they have gotten away with it have better think twice because it is going to catch up with you as soon as you are very comfortable that it will not. Surprise, surprise you will be, just listen to the cocky comments of Blagojevich’s yesterday having no ideal that he was about to go down.
These ones caused much havoc to someone close and dear to my family who set on a certain board to do with Illionis prisons, many of these ones have been arrested now finally Blagojevich because they are lying corrupt evil people. We have many of these types right here in the State of Missouri too who foolishly think that they are safe.
“good honorable people who choose to do good including Barack Obama who these of this Democratic ilk all despised.”
D-, you’re either high, or stupid. There is NO WAY Obama got to where he was in the corrupt world of IL dem politics with out playing the game. I have no doubt He doesnt care for Blags, they both wanted to control the Chicago machine. The degrees of separation between Blags and Obama are few.
A new Illinois’ slogan, “Abuse early, abuse often.”
