Campaign Media Analysis Group, the nonpartisan ad-monitoring firm that tracked such spending for the Post-Dispatch and tons of other media outlets, has just issued its state-by-state survey of which groups spent the most on ballot measures.

In Missouri, the top spenders were — in order:

1) Yes on A Coalition;
2) Missourians for Quality Home Care;
3) Greene Countians Against Question 1;
4) Citizens for Better Transportation;
5) Greene Countians for Fair and Impartial Judges
6) American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Union

We reported months ago that the pro-casino group was the state’s biggest issue spender, followed by the home health care lobby. But CMAG does offer a noteworthy synopsis.

Here’s its assessment: “In total, these groups ran 16 ads concerning four state and local measures on ballots across the state of Missouri.

“These measures related to a variety of topics, including the increase of gambling taxes, the recruiting and training of the home care workforce (this measure was approved), and the expansion of Metrolink. The largest expenditures were made by the Yes on A Coalition, which spent $3 million to support higher taxes on casinos in order to increase funding for education. This measure was approved. The AFSCME Union released an ad praising the election of its “can-do governor” and the passing of Proposition B, the Quality Home Care Act. …”
