Local developer chips in for Obama transition team
Barack Obama’s transition team today unveiled the list of donors funding the president-elect’s move to the White House.
Topping the list of local contributors is Bob Clark, head of the St. Louis County-based Clayco development firm, whose portfolio of local projects includes the new St. Louis University arena.
Clark has been an enthusiastic Obama backer from the beginning, while steadily increasing his presence in local Democratic politics. He gave $5,000 — the maximum allowed — to Obama’s “transition project.”
The effort — which will presumably fund staff and resources as Obama waits to take office — has raised $1.17 million since last month, though Obama has refused to accept transition donations from PACs or lobbyists.
