Missouri’s electoral votes officially break the bellwether mold: All McCain
Gov. Matt Blunt announced this afternoon that he had finalized Missouri ’s electoral votes, after the 11 electors had met to cast their support for the Republican ticket that carried the state, but lost the national election: GOP presidential nominee John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin.
According to Blunt’s e-release, “…the governor ensured results were finalized and distributed according to century-old protocol.”
“Our nation’s representative government is structured so that the people define the laws under which we live,” Blunt said in a statement marking one of his final major acts before he leaves office Jan. 12. “As we elect our nation’s leader and finalize Missouri ’s electoral vote we abide by the traditions of our Constitution’s authors. They understood the importance of integrity and accuracy in elections. As it was more than two hundred years ago, the right to vote in a fair and open election today remains one of Americans’ greatest freedoms and one that many men and women in uniform have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect.”
The 11 electors had convened at the Capitol. All had earlier been certified by Blunt, after the state’s Nov. 4 results had been certified by Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.
McCain carried Missouri by about 3,900 votes.
As Blunt’s e-release notes, “…Formal copies of the vote tally and results will, as defined by the U.S. Constitution, be delivered to the Vice President of the United States , the Archivist of the United States , the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office, and the Chief Judge of the United States Courts for the Western District of Missouri.”

Missouri electorally went for McCain and Illinois went with Obama. We have Matt (E-mail) Blunt, not for long, and they have Rod (the Corruptible) Blagojevich, probably not for much longer. The phrase ‘warm and fuzzy’ just does not seem to fit, in these situations.
HHHMMM…It was like he never saw the repeated attempted fraud from the republican side during the lection in MO. Poll watchers did. They got more creative than chads this year. And don’t forget, usually when we get a drama like the Gov and his Shugah Mamma…GB is usually using it to hide more of his antics. Wonder what he’s been up to during all this besides dodging kicks? Don’t take your eyes off of the magicians, or they will trick you every time.
Me? I REALLY want a party in power where the VP would be someone who uses insecure free email accounts to do gov’ment business to hide her antics. I would prefer the president to be the guy or gal who sold all those blackberries for only $20 and left all of their private info on it. During a time of war, that just makes it faster for they and the iraqis to communicate I guess. And such a show of economic prowess to get $20 apiece for them. Kudos Me Elephantos! Maybe next time…
Just goes to show that missourians are not stupid, and are not led around by the media.
“Just goes to show that missourians are not stupid, and are not led around by the media.” A Patriot
We dems said the same thing when Ashcroft lost to a dead guy.
Missouri is one of the wierdest states in the union. If my memory serves me correctly the same year we voted Ashcroft to be out Gov. we voted Harriet Woods to be out Lt. Gov. Two candidates two totally different political ends of the spectrum.
As a resident of rural Misosuri and as someone that campaigned for President Obama in rural Missouri, I can tell you there the fact that he lost the state by less than 4,000 votes amazes me. There were some people that were downright rude about this election. A lady told me her husband retired from the Teamsters and she was afraid that Obama would give her husbands pension to the muslims.
Allah, please enlighten us about the Republican attempts at fraud during the election.
Rural Missouri has a proud heritage of being south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
If Strom Thurmond were alive he would have carried Missouri against Obama.
McCain didn’t carry Missouri. The 19th Century did.
— Garrison seems to be suggesting those that didn’t vote for 0bama are
Closet Racialists
Pathetic.

BINGO!
as a rural Missourian I can tell you that most of the racisim wasn’t closeted most were pretty open about their disdain for a black man named Barack Huessein Obama.
A friend and former Democratic Mayor of a small rural town told me that he had lost all respect for me for supporting that God Da… Nig….. so it was pretty blatant.
