Nixon at a press conference Monday introducing his jobs plan

Though Gov. elect-Jay Nixon was tackling a dour topic at his press conference Monday– job loss and the struggling economy — he seemed at ease with himself.

Perhaps buoyed by the bi-partisan support his jobs programs is receiving, Nixon was almost playful with reporters — he took several “final questions” — and enjoyed multiple opportunities to brag about the early success of Mizzou basketball.

His prediction for tonight: Mizzou will win the bragging rights border battle over Ilinois at the Scottrade Center downtown.

And then he promised Missouri would do something it has been unable to do in the four years Matt Blunt has been governor.

“We are going to make the NCAA tournament,” Nixon said.

Jake you just couldn’t resist taking a shot at Matt Blunt in this could you? Have things really gotten so bad at the Post that you’re auditioning for a job with Nixon?

What is Nixon’s plan for meeting the budget shortfall he’s coming into? What is his secret committee of advisors up to?

Quit being such a hack and give us worthwhile information on our new governor. This drivil is stupid and meaningless.

So, is this a premonition of things to come for Nixon? Mizzou lost as bad this year as they have for the past 9 years.

Thank God Jay Nixon doesn’t bet tax money in Vegas on his sports predictions. We’d be worse off financially than Illinois, the state that won the game, headed by Governor Blago, someone who doesn’t know or care that Illinois plays good basketball.
