All that’s left now is the swearing-in.

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan certified Missouri’s presidential election results Tuesday, officially confirming the state’s closest race in 100 years.

In the final tally, Republican John McCain actually gained a single vote from when local election authorities turned the results into the state last month.

Even so, his 3,903 lead over president-elect Barack Obama represents less than two-tenths of a percent of the 2.9 million votes cast.

That’s the closest margin since the 1908 contest between William Howard Taft and William Jennings Bryant.

On Dec. 15, Missouri 11 electoral college representatives will meet in the state Capitol to officially cast the state’s vote for president and vice-president.

Well I guess it’s official, Obama’s much talked about ground game came up short. Democrats need to ask who dropped the ball? Did Nixon not do enough for Obama - after all how can he win by nearly 20% and not carry Obama. What happened in rural MO, why can’t Democrats do better there - especially in an economic environment like this? Did Kansas City not do what it needed to do? On this side of the State, Dooley did not have the County elections board prepared to handle the volume of voters in North County - how many voters walked away from the polls on election day in Velda village because of the election board’s failures? Did the City of St. Louis do it’s job, where was Wahby and the City democrats - what di they do? Change just didn’t work here - maybe we need some Change with the Missouri’s democrats.

My guess is there are a lot of people in this state that wouldn’t vote for a black guy under any circumstances…sad but true

bg, it’s funny you say that. Usually Democrats are calling Republicans racist. I guess it’s a hard pill for them to swallow when it is there party.

I guess it was still somewhat of a miracle and victory considering it is Missouri. It is still much progress and I guess we should be very proud that that many Missourians were willing to vote for Obama. It really truly is a victory considering. Hopefully next time he will win this state after he proves what a great and effective leader he is his first four years.
