Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and her father, State House Speaker Michael Madigan, have long had a frosty relationship with fellow Democrat Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Today, the younger Madigan filed a motion asking the state Supreme Court to take away the power of Blagojevich, arrested Monday on corruption charges.

She also supports a special election to fill the vacant Senate seat that Blagojevich is accused of seeking to auction off to the highest political bidder.

Every dem that has surrounded Blago during his time as governor is circling his carcass like vultures, looking opportunistic.

Having him declared unfit by the Supreme Court? I think that is reserved for those who are sick or dying — not merely stupid and greedy.

Blago should resign, Quinn should name the replacement to the senate, and the Chicago-area pols should stop embarrassing their state on such a frequent basis.

Unless, of course, they want to put Carol Mosely Braun back in the senate. Wouldn’t THAT be a thrill!!

Lisa, until you change the system that keeps those who report graft from getting fired, or blackballed in politics, you will not change anything. That happens in the corp world too. You know, the industry that gives you campaign funds each year. The guys you and your dad trade favors with aren’t clean either. You would not have your job if it weren’t for the machine connections. Not from lack of talent, but because of your gender. You are coming out now, but did not come out earlier while you wallowed in the same filth and profit from it even today. This is like GB destroying our country fighting daddy’s vendetta. Stop it girl! Fix it or don’t complain about it. And certainly don’t make money off of it. You are part of a system that has kept women and minorities from getting fair treatment without payoffs, and even then they get crumbs. God knows and Obama does too!

PS…your no call list doesn’t keep folks from calling me all day either

Who’s bragging? I’m as disgusted by some in my party as I am by some in the other.

But this issue isn’t partisan. Blago’s a whacko, and everyone knows it. What amazes me are the opportunistic measures some are going to in order to get their shots in.

Change the system Lisa…grow some fem-nuts and go for it. You have a legal degree. You could get a good job anywhere if they kick you out of the club. I feel you will never get off that machine gravy train, no matter how bad it gets. It’s always hard when children of politicians don’t work in the outside world so they can learn what reality is. Your life is spent pleasing daddy. There is more to life than that dear. Now who is signing letters on Rod’s behalf as we speak so the real dirt doesn’t come out? I am betting you will know half of the names on that roster of excuse makers. Many of your cronies fought backing Obama at first because you knew he didn’t play your games. Once you knew there was too much popular support to stop him, many of you jumped on board. If Dondi hadn’t been your family enemy, would you be speaking up now? Nothing personal dear, it’s just that your patronage hands aren’t clean. And you KNOW what the judges say when you come to court with unclean hands. Let me take those little gold lug nuts off of your car before the people see them!

As a long-time resident of Illinois and like many others who reside in this state, I am not one bit surprised about what has happened. Unfortunately, I believe that Blago’s behavior represents the norm rather than the exception in Illinois politics. For many years, those politicians that have been greedy, unethical, and heavy-handed have been the ones who have flourished in Illinois. Sure, Blago will be removed from office and will likely do some time at Club Fed. But the bigger problem seems to be the culture of corruption that has pervaded Illinois politics for many years. That will not go away just because Blago does. Call me cynical….

You better hurry back to your TV Lisa…the republicans are abiut to read an apology from ex-gov/felon Ryan. If apologies and good boy letters are enough to keep corporate crooks and politicians out of jail, you darned well better let street felons out too. You folks are getting so ridiculous.

Wow It strikes me that part of the problem is we don’t have a good mechanism for getting rid of mentally ill office holders quickly enough. Maybe every state should work on that. The politicans don’t get this way in a vacuum. The judges are as much a part of the problem as anything else. We need to investigate them since they give money to each others’ campaigns and are very cozy with, if not former politicians. I’ve seen so many crooked judges going to court all these years. They are known to be crooked and stay on the bench. Try to turn them in and you are toast. The one caught using the penis pump on the bench during a trial still sits in judgment and you know he has to have mental issues. Judges caught driving drunk who have hurt others stay in judgment of DWI trials. I’m getting jaded enough that I can see why criminals don’t respect the laws.
