ACORN worker here indicted for voter registration fraud

A voter registration worker for the group ACORN has been indicted on charges of fraud, U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Hanaway announced today.

Deidra Humphrey of East St. Louis is charged with two counts of voter fraud, which each carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

Humphrey, 44, has been accused of submitting bogus voter registration cards to the St. Louis city and county Election Boards.

There is no indication from Hanaway’s announcement that any of the “voters” registered by Humphrey — including forged cards bearing the names of nursing home residences — participated in the November election.

During the campaign, Republican critics, including Former U.S. Sen. John Danforth, hammered ACORN for using illegal methods in Missouri and swing states to benefit Barack Obama.

Often, voter registration workers are paid by the number of cards they submit, or are required to meet a certain threshold.

This is not the first time ACORN workers have been indicted for fraud. In 2007, eight members of the group’s voter registration corps were indicted for submitting fake cards for the 2006 general election.

Hey Danforth! SHOW ME the voter fraud? this voter registration fraud, spin it the way you want. done by an individual, not by an organization, and did not result in any fraudulent votes cast.

A bad apple. Restitution to ACORN and MPVC? this guy had to pay back his wages. http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/35050989.html

Can GOP Catherine “The Tempest” Hanaway find it in her heart to order restitution since this lady perpetrated fraud on the organizations who employed her?

If voter registration was automatic, we would not have to deal with the stupidity of the Deidra Humphreys around the country.

I am shocked the PD is even reporting this although it probably won’t make the print edition. And could you please forward this to your Editorial Dept. They are unaware that there has ever been any ACORN vote fraud in St. Louis.

Wow….Nice job Catherine. No political agenda here.
I can’t believe you found two fraudulent names who were registered to vote in the 2008 election. Let’s make it a point to pass voter ID laws and disinfranchise tens of thousands of voters so we can put an end to this democratic nonsense.

Garrison - How is it disenfranchising to require that you prove your identity in order to vote? You have to do it to cash a check. Well, you say, cashing a check isn’t a constitutional right. Fine. Buying a gun is, and they place a whole lot more obstacles in the way of somebody seeking to buy a gun than somebody seeking to vote.

No worries Deidra Humphrey. Former Obama Stormtruther and soon to be new U.S. Attorney Bob McCulloch will have this squashed in lickety split.

Ah, jeez. Not Garrison with the irrational name calling… again!

If we can ever root out all the voting fraud, no Democrat would ever win another election.
