SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Illinois Senate is minutes from the start of what could be the final day of Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s administration. Final statements in Blagojevich’s impeachment trial will span the next couple hours, followed by a vote, likely today, possibly tomorrow. There’s little doubt in most minds about the outcome.

Blagojevich himself will address the chamber at about 11 a.m., after yesterday’s surprise announcement that he would end his boycott of the trial. He won’t answer questions or face cross-examination.

Lt. Gov. Patrick Quinn (like Blagojevich, a Democrat) is apparently in the state Capitol and standing by to take office when necessary.

Legislative presecutor David Ellis is getting ready to speak.
