Glory days: Lewis Reed’s brush with Bruce

Earlier, we brought you some slapdash footage of rock giant Bruce Springsteen at the inauguration in Washington.
But, it turns out, that another St. Louisan — Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed — got a much better look at the commander-in-chief of Thunder Road.
Reed was walking around the inaugural grounds near the U.S. Capitol when he spotted the Boss with wife Patti Scialfa. Reed yelled something to the effect of “You’re the man, Bruce,” upon which Springsteen grabbed Reed’s arm and began walking with him.
“He was very cool,” Reed said later.
As they parted, Reed was able to take the above photo with his iPhone.
Capitol Hill was crawling with celebrities to watch Barack Obama take the oath of office. Our Post-Dispatch Washington bureau chief, Bill Lambrecht, was placed near actor Denzel Washington, while I was on a platform behind actress Sonja Sohn, better known as Det. Kima Griggs from”The Wire.” (See clip below)
When is the Post going to report that the classical quartet which played at the coronation did a Milli Vanilli and faked the whole performance? It was all on tape and they were not really playing.
I think they filed that under; who gives a f***-where it belongs.

again when the purchase of an $800,000 jumping horse for his daughter became known.

If Bush had hired a fake band, it would have been on the front page. It would have been the subject of weekend outrage by the music critic, there would have been editorials about transparency. Who cares? Go to all the other mainstream websites. Its big news. Just not in this liberal paper. I hope you like your news censored through a left wing fringe prism.

Remember when the J-School Wizards went nuts during GWB’s first surprise visit to A-stan for T-giving? The President lifted the chef’s decorative turkey display (it wasn’t real) for the photographers. When the reporters later discovered the faux turkey they immediately changed the narrative from one of a commander visiting troops at the front to one of fake/staged/media manipulation by a fake President. Disgusting!
