Mo Dems hint that Carnahan about to kick off — for Senate
Only the balloons and a hall were missing from the Missouri Democratic Party’s just-issued statement about U.S. Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond’s planned retirement in 2010.
New state Democratic Party chairman Craig Hosmer makes it clear that Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is expected to run for veteran Republican Bond’s seat, and that the Democratic party leaders will line up behind her.
“We thank Senator Bond for his service to the state,” Hosmer said in the release. “He has dedicated his entire career to Missouri and we wish the Senator and Linda all the best.
“Following Gov.-elect Nixon’s historic win, this seat provides a tremendous opportunity for Missouri Democrats,” Hosmer said. “Robin Carnahan spoke to the Governor elect this morning. (Emphasis mine) Robin would be a strong candidate and a great Senator and Democrats across the state hope she’ll run.”
In other words: Nixon is on board for a Carnahan bid. No other Missouri Democrat need apply.

End political royalty in America, NOW!
Bill Haas for Senate!!!
Go Robin!
Now that Roy Temple is working for Roy Blunt’s bagman Gregg Hartley this race should get intersting. Temple will be forced to help defeat Robin Carnahan. It doesn’t get any better than this!
I guess the old “Mad Dog” is more bark than bite!
Run Bill, run! But I want my cup of coffee first.
I bet Rachel Maddow is having an orgasmic reaction to the thought that Robin is thinking about running. I hear they are very, very “close.”
I agree that you could call a Caroline Kennedy appointment political royalty, but how is it political royalty if the person gets the most votes?
Go Robin, Go!!!!
It’s political royalty “if the person gets the most votes” because the famous surname helps her/him get the most votes. It’s a boost that others don’t enjoy.
Besides, most legacy officeholders prove that the “copy” isn’t as good as the original. Cases in point:
George H.W. Bush - George W. Bush
Bill Clay - Lacy Clay
Roy Blunt - Matt Blunt
Richard Webster - Bill Webster
Rich Koster - Chris Koster
and the most pertinent of all:
Mel and Jean Carnahan - Russ Carnahan
Robin looks really smart standing next to Russ, but let’s wait and see how well she articulates the important issues.
i was going to jokingly comment about the Secretary of State being a “Lawrence Welk Fan.” Rumors in politics is a thing to behold. As for Rachel Maddow and our Secretary of state being “close,” Maddow is very open and has been off the market for some time with her long time partner which diminishes the credibility of that rumor causing any pain.
