Nixon enlists Yale dean to head Natural Resources department

Templeton
With less than a day before he removes the “elect” from his title, governor in waiting Jay Nixon is putting the finishing touches on his cabinet.
On Saturday, Nixon announced that he has asked Mark N. Templeton, an associate dean at the Yale University Law School, to lead the state Department of Natural Resources.
According to the news release, Templeton will lead “Nixon’s initiatives to expand the production of alternative energy” in Missouri.
Templeton, 39, is originally from Olivette and brings an impressive resume to Jefferson City. He graduated from Harvard University and Yale Law School, where he is currently in charge of finance and administration.
He worked for the global consulting firm McKinsey & Co., as well as the U.S. State Department. Templeton also did human rights work in southeast Asia, and was publishing director for Let’s Go travel guides.

Mr. Templeton has an outstanding resume, and sounds like he would be very qualified for many things. But I don’t see where he’s qualified for this. I guess when you elect an attorney as governor …
Also, before investing too much of our state’s money in alternative energy, I hope Mr. Nixon (and Mr. Templeton) will take a few minutes to read this:

Summary: Enhancing energy efficiency using current technology would give us much more bang for the buck than windmills.
I know it is Sunday, but nowhere in this post are Mr. Templeton’s qualifications for the director’s post.
What is this guy bring to DNR. I am sure he will mesh in wonderfully with the established staff of Harvard lawyers. Why would his resume lead him to MO DNR??
