Parade of the ex-presidents, heavenly music, momentous proceedings
Lucky enough to watch the inaugural proceedings on my big-screen TV (thanks to winning it in the Post-Dispatch’s 2007 United Way drawing), and here’s my observations so far:
– Most spine-tingling moment (outside of the roar for Barack Obama’s entrance)
The ceremonial entrances of all the ex-presidents, ex-vice presidents and their wives
Nothing spells democracy better.
– Most human moment
Obama’s oldest daughter, Malia, taking pictures from her choice vantage point on the inaugural platform.
– Momentous beginnings
The opening remarks by U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Ca.
The entrance of former Pres. Bill Clinton and the Sec. of State-nominee, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. No other presidential couple has such dual clout.
– Classy prayer
The Rev. Rick Warren.
– Aretha!
– Pearlman, Yo-yo Ma and white doves
Under a blue sky, with people as far as the TV cameras can see.
– President Obama
It’s done.
Chief Justice John Roberts did the honors.
21-gun salute
Pandemonium!!
– Now, the speech

Exceedingly under whelmed by The Speech.

The speech was certainly better than the poem. The music with Pearlman and Yo-yo was spectacular. I’ve heard that piece a thousand times and it has never been performed better.
Hey BOBz. Get a life and take your right wing drivel and sarcasm with you. You Rethugs and your chimp leader have all but destroyed this country. Now I guess you can all slink back under the rocks you came from, listen to your fat prophet Rush, grovel, knash your teeth and whatever else you people do. I am so glad that we finally have a President who is smarter than a 5th grader. You may have been underwhelmed by the inauguration speech, but I have been extremely underwhelmed by Rethuglican leadership (oxymoron).
BlueMO, Seriously —— what about the speech did you find to be inspiring?
