The recent news that Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond  will not run for re-election overtook fellow Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder’s asthma news conference I posted about yesterday.

But Kinder was closed-mouthed about whether he would try to replace Bond, saying, “I’m not going to join those in what I think is unseemly haste in taking potshots or announcing my plans today.”

He declined to name the official taking the potshots, but he did say he saw a statement on a blog that he considered shocking.

The mystery official is probably outgoing state Treasurer Sarah Steelman, who announced she is considering a bid for Bond’s spot. Steelman has not always seen eye-to-eye with Bond, who endorsed Rep. Kenny Hulshof over Steelman in the gubernatorial primary last year.

Kinder had kind words to say about Bond.

“I can’t think of any Missourian who’s done more for the state,” he said.

Rams linebacker Chris Draft did manage to get in a few points about asthma.

“Wanting to change isn’t good enough. You have to take action,” he said.

He said he has had to be hospitalized once because someone was smoking a cigar, and he is very excited about the ”Working with Asthma” campaign.

Kinder is such a joke.

This is the same guy who said he “crossed the Rubicon” when entered the governor’s race only to cower to Kenny Hulshof, the worst gubernatorial candidate the GOP has ever had, and back out of the race 10 minutes later lying to reporters in the process.

Kinder also owes Matt Blunt $600,000 so I bet we don’t see the tough guy jump into this one. Blunt would send a collection agency after him first.

Kinder’s also got that pedophile working for him and Rich Aubuchon who was part of the Scott Eckersly hit job. He has way too much baggage and not enough in the way of accomplishments to ever be taken seriously for an important job like this.

Kinder is a decent guy, and one of the few people in Missouri politics who has crossed boundaries of party, geography, and race. You knee-jerk dirtbags would do well to look at some of the characters in your own party before taking shots at a fine man like Peter Kinder.

This is rich. Of course Peter Kinder is so above-board. I and others know otherwise.
