Photos but no questions to be allowed at Nixon’s first appearance as governor
Media packets distributed for tomorrow’s state inaugural say that immediately after his swearing-in as governor, Jay Nixon will meet with “young entrepreneurs and innovators from across Missouri” to talk about creating jobs.
The media is welcome to show up for the “conclusion of the discussion” at 1 p.m. to take pictures. But “there will not be an availability for questions during this event.”
Let’s hope that’s just because he’s on a tight schedule — Nixon plans to greet the public at the Governor’s Mansion starting at 1:30 p.m. — and not an indicator of media relations to come.
Nixon promises to have a chilly inaugural, with temperatures expected to hit a high of 42 and rain and snow showers possible.
St. Louis-area participants in the ceremony include Margaret L. Williams, the 2008-2009 Missouri Teacher of the Year, from University City High School, who will lead the pledge of allegiance; and Rabbi Susan Talve, of the Central Reform Congregation in St. Louis, who will offer the benediction.

I’m sure Gov. Nixon will give reporters plenty of opportunity to question him.
Looks like Nixon is starting out on the right foot. Don’t these guys ever learn?
