Rep. Hoskins to speak at Scientology anti-psychiatry exhibit
Hoskins
Rep. Ted Hoskins, a Democrat from Berkeley, will speak at an anti-psychiatry exhibit sponsored by a group affiliated with the Church of Scientology.
Hoskins will introduce “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death” at the Jamestown Mall in Florissant on Saturday afternoon.
The touring exhibit, which made an appearance earlier this week in the Capitol rotunda in Jefferson City, has been put together by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, which was founded by Scientologists to further the group’s views on psychiatry.
Like Scientologists, the Citizens Commission believes that psychiatry is inflicting broad damage on American minds and bodies.
The exhibit, modeled after a museum in Los Angeles, features panels “depicting human rights abuses by psychiatry and carry statements from health professionals, academics, legal and human rights experts, and victims of psychiatric brutalities.”

… and you’d probably like to learn about some of the deaths of it’s members here:

@ Davis Glen again because you responded while I was writing my response. If you want news reports go to YouTube. There’s Australian news stories on Child Labor in Scientology, an ABC piece on Astra Woodcraft and Jenna Hill who run exscientologykids.com and tons of other things. You just have to look for it, not ask to be spoon fed.
I’m sure there are good pieces on Scientology up on YouTube as well but being on the other side of the table I’m not sure where to find them.
Wow.. if you wanted to know just how nutty the CCHR (Scientology front group) is… just scroll down and read one of the Scientologit’s comments by the name of Tom Newton. His comment pretty much sums up the way Scientology think. Which is BEYOND scary.
The CCHR is nothing more than a front group for Scientology. Their main goal is to wipe out psychiatry and recruit people into Scientology. Although I do not agree with the over drugging of people, I do belive that there are MANY people who need medications for various reasons.
I wish states and property owners of the buildings where these exhibits are held would do their homework before allowing such exhibits to be set up. The word Scientology is displayed sparsely at these exhibits. Many times the exhibit is set up under false pretences. State officials and property owners are not aware that this is a Scientology exhibit ,nor do they know that the “facts” displayed in this exhibt are unfound and just outright ridiculous. The pictures are used as scare tactics, and I believe it is not the best environmnet for children. Unassuming parents can take their children to this exhibit not realizing that it is a total assault on psychiatry.
I feel this is GREAT embarrassment to Florissant, and I believe that officials should be made know what they are getting themselves in to.
I urge everyone to drop Rep. Ted Hoskins a line and tell him NO!
No to a psychiatry bashing, and no to this Scientology exhibit.
Not in my neighborhood!
If you don’t agree with this, drop by the mall on Saturday…
we could use a crowd.
For the Scientology plants trying to do damage control here are some references that Scientology won’t let you read. Please know any family you have been forced to disconnect from still loves you.

whyaretheydead.net lists MANY people who have died because they spout this crap. Scientology doesn’t have the ability to cure schizophrenia, clinical depression, or epilepsy. Hubbard refers to psychological terminology as gobbledy-gook, due to sour grapes over someone refusing him psychological treatment for so called “war shock” he received as a janitor on a navy boat.
If scientology had their way, my uncle would be dead, or other members of my family he may have been attacked. Instead, due to the help of psychiatry he is under control, and has greatly improved his quality of life. There’s nothing to “clear” from someone undergoing treatment for a serious problem.
@Davis Glen
And maybe the infamous TIMES magazine news article that landed the author and the mag itself in court with Scientology, who accused the TIMES of printing lies?

“Like Scientologists…” excuse me while I laugh. CCHR IS Scientology. It was founded by the Church of Scientology specifically to do the dirty work of tearing down legitimate science that proved the cult did not help people. I should know, I was inside for years. The exhibit itself is a shameful mishmash of lies, exaggerations and bad science that would be better suited coming from a busker in the subway. By all means, everyone should see the exhibit for themselves, it’s a real eye-opener into how deluded someone can become when under the influence of Scientology.
Just got off the phone with Rep. Hoskins. He did not know that they would be using his presence at the event to promote their cause. He was just going to answer their call to speak at their event.
He said he was not aware that the event would be filmed, nor did he think it was a huge event, because it isn’t.
I let him know how this would look to the public. And he now knows that CoS would use film of him at the event to claim that he supported CoS. He sounded a bit disturbed, shaky voice. So hopefully he will be a no show.
More people need to call. He is willing to listen.
He is in his office at the moment.

How come Scientology, the top 10 most hated criminal organization as voted at change.gov, are being openly supported by politicians? I hope he’s tricked into it. If he has seen the Industry of Death exhibit, and he still didn’t stay away, he must be crazy.
