WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan booked the House Agriculture Committee room to raise  a glass to fellow St. Louisans in town for Tuesday’s presidential inauguration.

From the guests inside, it might as well have been Beffa’s at lunch hour than Capitol Hill. Attendees included Mayor Francis Slay, State Rep. Rachel Storch, Clayco chief Bob Clark, State Auditor Susan Montee, veteran Democrat Betty Van Uum, developer Sam Koplar, Charlie Dooley aide Mike Jones, City Democratic chair Brian Wahby, former State Rep. Judy Baker, and Margaret Donnelly, Gov. Jay Nixon’s choice to lead the state Department of Health and Senior Services.
