St. Onge steps down from controversial new state job

Neal St. Onge
As reported this morning on the Mother Ship, former Ballwin state Rep. Neal St. Onge resigned his short-lived job as inspector general of the Joint Committee on Transportation Oversight yesterday.
St. Onge has been in a tiff with his former Republican co-chairman of the committee, Sen. Bill Stouffer of Napton, ever since St. Onge found a way to basically appoint himself to the job. Read about the controversy here.
St. Onge said he wants to avoid a legal battle. But his problems might not be over. Questions have been raised about his filings with the Missouri Ethics Commission during his failed race for state Senate. Last fall, St. Onge filed campaign finance reports that showed about $20,000 in expenses that didn’t exist. He has since filed an amendment showing reduced expenses. Questions about the campaign finance reports were first raised in the Arch City Chronicle.
The amount of extra expense is close to the amount of a state tax lien filed against St. Onge by the Department Revenue. St. Onge has since paid down the lien and he still owes about $1,300 according to county records.
St. Onge said there is no relation between the campaign finance problems, which he called a simple mistake, and his tax lien, which he said he’s working to pay off.

Hasta la vista, fat cat.
Amen, Nick.
This guy was a putz BEFORE he was a rep — let alone as a candidate for senate.
The fact that he tried to put himself in this position (which had no appropriation) just shows the caliber of person he truly is.
