Talent, Loudon interested in running for Bond’s seat?

Word is that former Republican State Sen. John Loudon of Chesterfield, who lost a bid for state auditor in the 2006 primary, is interested in running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Kit Bond.
Loudon, a social conservative, would appeal to the state’s evangelical base, though may have trouble muscling out party heavyweights like Roy Blunt and Peter Kinder.
Speaking of party heavyweights: Politico reports that former U.S. Sen. Jim Talent — who lost his own seat in 2006 to Claire McCaskill — may try a return to Capitol Hill.

Loudon? Give me a break. . Loudon crossed the line when he tried to give his wife his old job. End political royalty (and neopotism) in America, NOW!
Please God, the last thing we need to do in the most severe economic crisis since the great depression is to elect a pandering phoney like John Loudon to the U.S. Senate. With the country pushing 10% unemployment all this fool would do is try to enact more sex offender laws. I’ve never seen a politician so obsessed on one issue. The sad thing is that his obsession is with airtime on TV and the radio not really protecting kids.
Loudon for senate? As a democrat, one can only hope that bozo gets the nomination. Many repubs I know would be shamed and stay home election day.
Loudon will set the minimum wage at $3.50 while busting every union in America.
Hasn’t the middle-class suffered enough?
Republicans need somebody who can clear the field, so there will be no primary. Talent tops that list. The only other candidate who comes close is Kinder. But if Kinder is the party’s guy, you’ll probably see Steelman jump in.
I heard that Chris Koster might switch parties again to jump in this republican primary.
PS - I’ve known Loudon for years, and he’s no bozo. He’s one of my favorite elected officials, in fact. But I will guarantee you that he won’t run against Talent or Kinder.
Regardless of who (or is it whom) the Republicans put up against most likely Robin Carnahan for the Democrats. They will need to have about 100 million dollars to spend in order to make it close. The Republican candidate will need to work harder becuse their strength is scattered throughout the rural areas of Missouri. Even some of those Republican leaning voters are not about to contribute money, because many of them are broke and unemployed. 2010 may be an election year when enough economically challenged Republican cheerleaders finally realize that a vote for gun rights and so-called right to life candidates will not keep food on the table or a roof over their heads.
Jim Talent would be a fantastic choice. I hope he runs!
