Loudon, left, and Talent

Word is that former Republican State Sen. John Loudon of Chesterfield, who lost a bid for state auditor in the 2006 primary, is interested in running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Kit Bond.

Loudon, a social conservative, would appeal to the state’s evangelical base, though may have trouble muscling out party heavyweights like Roy Blunt and Peter Kinder.

Speaking of party heavyweights: Politico reports that former U.S. Sen. Jim Talent — who lost his own seat in 2006 to Claire McCaskill — may try a return to Capitol Hill.

Loudon? He was the only State Senator to oppose the SLAPP suit bill, which aimed to further rein in evil corporations who sue the public to shut them up about development projects.

John Loudon is just what we need in the U.S. Senate. His integrity is paramount, his committment is unwaverring, he comes up with fresh solutions, and his stance on the issues is appealing to both social and fiscal conservatives. John Loudon is the right person for the job.

Oh, and John Loudon doesn’t carry baggage or skeletons in the closet. He’s been known to be one of the most “squeaky clean” people in the Capitol.
Let’s have a senator who we can feel good about all the way around.

Kinder isnt running, because he is a yes man who does what he is told. They told himto get out the governor’s race………he jumped out in less than a day. Talk about doing an aboutface! Not to mention that he owes baby Blunt something to the tune of 300K for a loan, it would be quite embarassing for Kinder to have that loan called in and his campaign committeee go bankrupt.

Now back to the actual field and not the bench. You have Steelman, who I would love to see run, because we all know she has little chance, but she would raise a ton of cash and go negative from day 1. Then you have Talent, another guy I would love to see run, he just lost, he is a Washington insider, he is closely aligned to Bush and a total aloof. Roy Blunt, another Washington insider I ‘d love to see in a crowded primay. The Blunt name is Missouri is damaged goods, need I go further…….he couldnt even beat a crook (Bill Webster). John Loudon, that just be gasoline for the fire.

John Loudon is one of those rare politicians who is also a real person. As one of his constituents, I always found him extremely approachable and truly sympathetic to my concerns. His creative solutions would be a real asset to MO in the US Senate. He would have my vote for sure.

Barb, are you silly? I think that if you check the record Loudon WROTE the SLAPP bill. No one has brought that issue up in years. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure Loudon passed it. Yeah, I googled “Loudon slapp” http://www.casp.net/statutes/statemo.html Barb, check your facts.

Jim,
You want to criticize me, have at it. You want to talk about my mother that is another issue. I have no problem with political legacies. I have a problem with political royalty and the professional poliitical class. If you don’t, you are probably part of it. Get a real job, Jim. How big is your trust fund, Jim? Did your daddy give you that corvette at 16? Did he make you Vice President of the Commerce Bank of Beverly Hills when you graduated from his alma mater (barely)? You want to recycle the same lineage of hacks, you deserve it. I’m for bringing in new, fresh, qualified blood.

John Loudon is exactly the kind of man Missouri needs in the Senate. He is willing to fight for what is right and he has shown a dedication to moral principals that is so rare among politicians. He’s too good for Washington, but if he runs, I’m sure it won’t be on just one issue, and he will have a grassroots army ready to go to work for him. Hmmm, did you guys forget that more Missouri voters cast their ballots for McCain than Obama? We like conservatives.

Mr. jjk,

Respectfully my good man, I think you are mistaken about the young master Loudon. I cannot verify any serious pedigree in him, no political lineage predating his election in his bloodline. I would say your objection to his candidacy based on some claim to royalty would be, how shall I say it, unbefitting.

As for you, your sad protestations make me ever so slightly misty. Tears would be unbecoming, so please settle for just misty. Tata

Loudon doesn’t have a shot in hades to land the GOP nomination, and everyone but John knows it. He has the ego of a U.S. Senator, but the talent of a dog catcher.
