The night before Missouri’s day of change
‘Twas the night before the Inaugural
And all through the state Capitol
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a liberal
All the bunting was hung on the railings with care
With hope that Jay Nixon (et al) soon would be there
The spectator seats were lined up, row after row
While TV satellite trucks were parked, waiting for the show
Jerry Ford’s ball bandstand was already on display
That name the only sign of Repubs on this day
So as the Highway Patrolman walked into sight
He exclaimed politely: “Leave the Capitol through the door on the right!”

Jo Mannies, you may be wrong on part of this one.
The creatures may not be stirring in the Capitol, but the legislators are stirring and ready to get it on. Some legislators have already been getting it on, and a one is rumored to be pregnant. Some say, not again by a ?#@$%^! man, but don’t believe the rumors or should you.
What could be greater than political love? An economic stimulus package maybe, but that comes later. Some people don’t know how to be quiet and sit down, but they eventually be quiet when they realize that newspapers buy ink by the barrels!
The first post is unintelligible. Is that a rumor being floated?
I wish our new governor and the entire statewide slate of officeholders the very best, and much success. Let’s enjoy a bit of a truce on the party politics today. The only party we should revel in today is the one in Jeff City, and all are welcome. The fights can resume Tuesday. For now, let’s be thankful for our system and for peaceful and smooth transitions. Now off my soapbox and into my dancing shoes…
Thank you, SallyD, for a voice of reason. Agree with your comments wholeheartedly.
Does anyone know if they will be broadcasting and/or
streaming the Inaugural Ceremony in Jeff City today? I work with seniors and know that several who couldn’t attend would like to watch it live. If so, where and when can we tune in?
