McCaskill and Blunt squared-off in 2004

Eventually, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill’s candid Twitter updates will cease to be news or even blog fodder.

Eventually.

For the moment, though, they are hard to resist.

Take this gem from Thursday, where McCaskill was heading back to St. Louis from Washington — and sharing a plane with former Republican Gov. Matt Blunt.

Blunt, of course, was elected to his one term by defeating McCaskill in the contentious 2004 election that saw the Democratic National Committee withdraw from Missouri in hopes of using those resources elsewhere.

The gambit didn’t work, but did lead McCaskill to where she is today — the Twittering Queen of the Senate.

As for Blunt, McCaskill’s twitter wasn’t bitter.

“Nice visit,” McCaskill wrote of her run-in with Blunt at the airport. “He seems happy and content to be out of the pressure cooker.”

i predict that we haven’t heard the last of Baby Blunt–within the next year I pray that he is involved in a public scandal…and I don’t mean the one about the e-mails.

He is a very evil man.

Oh Jake. Your headline is so misleading. The twitter doesn’t state it was awkward but your headline states it was. It sounded to me like it was suprisingly NOT awkward.

Ever thought that he would run for his Dad’s seat that is going to be vacant in two years when the elder Blunt runs for the Senate.

I cannot figure out why Missourians would ever elect a Blunt again. What has Roy Blunt ever done for Missourians? He has name recognition. We need somebody new and fresh. We need to quit re-electing these same old legislators who have not done anything to improve the country or state.

I was actually on this flight with them and they both appeared civil and relaxed in each others company. They chatted for quiet a long time before boarding the plane.

I was on that flight too. Claire grabbed him and b-slapped him silly, tho he seemed to enjoy it. No, wait, I’m confused; that was another flight with Irene Smith and Slay; or was it Maida and the other Coleman? I always get them confused (Claire and Irene, not, uh, well you know what I mean.) Especially, after a few in-flight cocktails.
