Cell phones and faxes might be added to No Call List
JEFFERSON CITY –The sponsors of two bills that would modify the No Call List testified to the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection and Environment.
Sen. Scott Rupp, R-St. Charles, and Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, sponsored similar bills that would allow people to put cell phones and faxes on the No Call List.
The bills would also ban robo calls to numbers on the no call list, unless the owner specifically allows robo calls or a live person precedes robo portion of the call.
Rupp said in the 2006 election, someone made robo calls on his behalf of which he had no knowledge.
Joan Gummels from the Attorney General’s office and Jan Schupp of the AARP testified in favor of the bills.
The bills are SB 65 (Rupp) and SB 43 (Pearce)
