Doyle Childers goes from DNR to staff of Sen. Gary Nodler
JEFFERSON CITY — Former Department of Natural Resources Director Doyle Childers has landed a new job — working part-time for Sen. Gary Nodler, and, perhaps some other Republican senators.
Childers has been walking the halls of the Capitol and attending hearings. He said last week that he’s working for various GOP senators, just keeping an eye on things and doing research.
Senate records show he’s being paid by Nodler, $2,000 for one month, from Jany 15 to Feb. 15. At that time, Childers said, he might start working for other senators. Nodler is paying Childers out of his Senate account.
Childers said the work is a nice transition from the full-time work as DNR director he had over the past four years to retirement. He turns 65 later this year.
