Emboldened MRP goes after Nixon and McCaskill
The Missouri Republican Party continued its tirade at top Democrats this week, with the latest blasts aimed at new Gov. Jay Nixon and Sen. Claire McCaskill.
In the case of McCaskill, the GOP brought up the various attacks over her family’s income and tax payments (or in the case of the lake condo, lack of) that it brought up unsuccessfully in 2006, when she ran for the Senate and knocked off Republican Jim Talent.
Said the GOP in a sharp release: “With three of President Obama’s top appointees exposed for not paying their taxes, Claire McCaskill has chimed in with one of her most hypocritical rants to date.
“McCaskill, who Roll Call magazine ranks as one of the richest members of the U.S. Senate, informed MSNBC earlier this week, “For anybody watching this show, if you ever think you’re going to be in government, please pay your taxes. Pay them now…”
In the case of Nixon, the Republican Party was plowing newer ground. It cited a story in the Columbia Tribune that focuses on the raises that were given to some of the new governor’s top aides — at the same time he’s proposing to lay off more than 1,000 state employees.
“Jay Nixon is firing more that 1,300 state employees and begging Washington for a bailout, yet he has managed to dole out pay hikes as high as 45% for some of his senior staff,” said state GOP spokeswoman Tina Hervey. “If Nixon is searching for a place to cut the budget, I suggest he simply look out his office door.”

It’s interesting the hypocrisy that has come to light in the past few months concerning the democratic party and their taxes. I also find it amusing that Nixon gave raises of 45%!!! Really? Most people this year will be lucky to get a 3% raise, if any at all. And he’s laying people off. Maybe people will remember this during the next election, but I doubt it. It seems that none of this good info makes it to the mainstream voters….or maybe they just don’t care.
I demand an immediate investigation into Nixon. I think he deleted an email about this issue.
Rhetoric from the mindless Republican party, willing to increase the economic suffering in America to try and make Obama look bad.
Won’t work.
America sees the Republicans blocking a new approach to getting the economy going.
America sees the Republicans proposing more trickle down, exactly how they created this mess.
America sees which party is really for rebuilding America.
Bye, bye GOP
Sounds like more of Rush Limbaugh’s patented “wanting-them-to-fail” philosophy - an attitude that puts the citizens of Missouri in peril.
The Republican Party is reeling, and so, in spite of the magnitude of the challenges we face, they follow the partisan game plan of attack, insult and interfere.
My husband and I supported Jay Nixon in his campaign for Governor. I sure hope that it is incorrect information that he gave pay raises to senior staff during this terrible economic time. If that is correct, we and I’m sure many people will not vote for him again.

The Keynesian approach to economic downturns isn’t new. Since you obviously lack any historical perspective, I recommend reading about it in Wikipedia:

.
You’ve blasted Wikipedia in the past.
Now you quote it.
.
You are a hypocrite.
You have zero credibility.
Take a hike.
Its amazing that the Republican Party is willing to let the American economy collapse just to satisfy their irrational hatred of members of the Democratic Party. The argument against McCaskill doesn’t even make sense: because she’s rich, she can’t say that people should pay their taxes??? What they’re really mad about is that she’s been pushing to limit the executive compensation of Wall Street bankers who received billions of dollars in government support during the bailout.
STL, you really need to read up on some history. Whether it’s Wikipedia that says it or not, huge Government spending has never cured a recession. It only makes it worse. Calling this a “new” approach and reciting the Democratic talking points of the day (”same old failed policies”) when they can easily be proven false makes YOU the one with no credibility.

Can you name two countries where Keynesian policies worked?
“Now you quote it.” Where does Kasoff quote Wikipedia?
How ’bout one country?
