Chuck Gross, a former longtime Republican state legislator, said Tuesday he will be hospitalized later this month for cancer treatment.

Gross, who was a state senator and representative before becoming St. Charles County’s director of administration in 2007, said he will miss as much as eight weeks of work due to his hospital stay and follow-up recuperation at home.

County Executive Steve Ehlmann, Gross’ boss, said Gross expects to use a combination of vacation time, sick leave, compensatory time off and shared leave.

Shared leave is a program in which county employees donate some of their own vacation time to help colleagues, Ehlmann said.

We’ve definitely had our differences, but my hopes and prayers are with Sen. Gross and his family. I hope you have a speedy and full recover Chuck!
