That was quick!

Once the new hit that Roy Blunt was officially announcing his U.S. Senate candidacy, Jack Jackson pulled his name out of the rumor mill and sent a news release announcing he was running for the 26th District state Senate seat that will be vacated by Sen. John Griesheimer when his term is up in 2010.

Jackson, a former state rep, had been rumored to be considering a run for the Senate seat currently held by U.S. Sen. Kit Bond, and Jackson stirred the political waters himself with a news release commending Bond and then going on about his own political bio.

But now, after running for state auditor and flirting with runs for lieutenant governor and governor, Jackson is setting his sights on state Senate.

Said Jackson in a release:

An experienced veteran of the Vietnam War and Missouri government and politics now has his sites set on the state senate. Jack Jackson, the former State Representative and retired Marine Corps Colonel who led John McCain’s presidential campaign in Missouri today announced he is running for state senator in the 26th district. The district includes Franklin and Warren counties and parts of West St. Louis County. In a statement released online at the website jackjackson.org Colonel Jackson issued a “call to arms” for concerned voters. “These are challenging times for all of us.” “Our economy, our moral values and the future prosperity of our families are all under siege.” “This is not the time to stand down.” “We must stand together and confront our challenges head on.”

Meanwhile, word out of the Sarah Steelman camp is that the former state treasurer is still considering a primary challenge against Blunt. Sources say she’s on the fence and believes she would be a better general election candidate than Blunt, who will have to fend off the same sorts of challenges from DemocratRobin Carnahan that Steelman used fairly effectively against U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof in her primary run for governor.

Not to sound corny, but Jackson is just the kind of guy Jeff City needs right now. He’s got an independent streak and common sense. I hope he gets in there and bring some trust and sanity back in to government. I don’t think he really wanted to run for Bond’s seat but he would have been a good one in Washington. Go Colonel Jack!

If there is one thing that doesn’t really matter in state politics, it is if you are a marine. But that will be this guys number one issue and he will win with it.

He is one that Missouri needs, regardless of the office. I back Jack.

Jack Jackson is not the kind of guy we need. As a matter of fact I gave him a large donation when he was running for Lt Gov and then when he dropped out, he wouldn’t return my phone call or my check. In other words, he figured it was his money. This guy is always running for something and looking for his next stepping stone. He has run for congress (lost), State Rep (won), State Auditor (lost big time), was going to run for Lt. Gov, Maybe U.S. Senate and now wants to be my State Sen. Forget it, I would rather have a guy like Allen Icet who isn’t in Politics for his ego. Give it up Jack and don’t bother asking me for money again, I am still waiting for your return call.

I think jack just has a to big head for his shoulders. He shouldn’t run because he can’t win, then he will look like a EXTREME loser and he already kinda does. Please Jack don’t make your self look worse!!!!
Almost all of the rest of you commenter’s are just people who know Jack and he wants you to comment for him.

“seriously” - your statement that he “lost big time” for State Auditor is borderline hilarious. I guess when you lose by less than 1% that is now a landslide? He lost by roughly 1,600 votes STATEWIDE and you call that a big time loss.

Maybe you should continue to live in the clouds.

Mr. “Seriously” -If you post your real name and exactly how much you donated and made it a public , I’m sure Jack would be glad to give you a refund.

What did Jack Jackson get his 6 friends to come and put post on here. I shouldn’t have to post my name on here to guilt Jack Jackson into giving back money that he should have given back in the fisrt place. It’s called Character!
