Nixon poised to take in first MU-KU game as fan-in-chief
Whether he’s saying Missour-ee or Missour-ah, the Mizzou Tigers have always been close to Gov. Jay Nixon’s heart.
Tonight, he’ll truly begin his tenure as First Fan when he attends his first Kansas-Missouri basketball game since being sworn-in as governor in January.
Nixon’s office confirms that he’ll be at Mizzou Arena tonight, though no word on where the governor will be sitting.
Maybe in the student section with son Jeremiah, a sophomore studying political science?
If she’s there, Nixon might want to cozy up to his cross-border counterpart, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, who appearantly is on the short list to become Barack Obama’s Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Either way, the game tips off just after 8 p.m., with both the Jayhawks and the Tigers ranked in the Top 25.

The governor was hanging out in the luxury box of Marceline publisher Don Walsworth, who just coincidentally was a huge Nixon campaign donor, and who just coincidentally is a member of the University of Missouri Board of Curators, and who just coincidentally is said to be heading for a Nixon reappointment to this powerful board, which just coincidentally would give Walsworth TWELVE CONSECUTIVE YEARS to put the cart before the horse by promoting athletics over academics. Thanks Governor, for keeping the priorities in order by rewarding your buddy.
all this because Gov. Nixon went to a basketball game?
geez…
hey crisco…
seen any black helicopters on the horizon yet?
any wonder why the gop is losing elections?
For the record: Nixon hangs out in the Missouri Democratic Party’s box, which is known as the governor’s box. Last night, he had some of his office staff, wife Georganne and son Will with him.
