WASHINGTON — Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, has only seen Republicans delivering big speeches to joint sessions of Congress. Make that one president — George W. Bush.

Watching President Barack Obama tonight was a whole lot different. “It was very different,” Carnahan said in Statuary Hall in the Capitol. ”I would describe it as President Obama talking about the State of the Union he was left with after eight years of George Bush.

What did Carnahan especially like? Obama’s message of empowering people to dig ourselves out of “this economic pothole,” he said.

“this economic pothole”

Hey Russ! Does that include the 800 billion you voted for last week? Or the 400 billion you’ll vote for next week?

Or the ‘tax cuts’ you and your fellow travelers will give to people that don’t actually pay taxes?

Indeed they are traveling men aren’t they? I wonder if Russ will be able to pat for his roof now?

I’d rather deal with the George Bush deficit pothole than the Grand Canyon Obama deficit. The year-to-year bar chart issued by the C.B.O. (Congressional Budget Office) doesn’t lie.

Do you mean the banking industry that started this downfall back during Carter’s administration? Jimmy forced the banks to take 10% of their loans and invest them in areas where they would not normally invest. In return the banks were given FDIC insurance. We can then go to Slick Willie and then Franks and Dodd. Oh wait a minute they belong to your party so that doesn’t count. No I didn’t vote for Bush in 04 and was not very pleased with his administration just let the truth be told.

Also, Russ when I run into you on the plane from STL to DC or DC to STL and I let you go first into the aisle a little nod or a thanks would be nice. Believe it or not you are not a supreme being to me you are just another traveler.

So, how does using a non-union roofing company, and then stiffing them, help the economy?

“Representative Carnahan, have you read the bill?”

“But, but… have you read the bill?”

Russ..a born kool-ade drinker..is all for lowering the standards of this Country…open borders, bail out the loosers and winners with our tax money, he is for any one who is for turning our contry into another E. Stlouis, Philly, Detroit, Newark or New Orleans….

“It was very different,” Carnahan said…

i agree…

a man speaking who can actually put thoughts into words and sentences…

a man telling the truth and not fabricating lies…

a man who has a vision for our great country…

a man who actually cares about ALL of the American people and not just the rich…

no DICK cheney sitting there scowling and asleep, wondering what new damage he can harm us with next…

yes…

i’d have to agree…

a very different evening than the last eight, long, difficult years.
