Sarah Steelman to Red State blog: I am not a jerk!
JEFFERSON CITY — Can we really handle 20 months of this? While Roll Call is questioning the decision of the Republican establishment to back Roy Blunt in the race for U.S. Senate, another conservative blog, Red State, last week called Blunt’s likely primary opponent, Sarah Steelman, a “jerk.” More specifically, the blogger said certain GOP types said Steelman could be a jerk.
Well, Steelman called Red State up to take issue with that characterization.
Said blogger Erick Erickson:
She wanted me to know she’s not a jerk. She certainly did not sound like a jerk. She said she figures a lot of the rumor mongering against her stems from her lack of participation in the general with Kenny Hulshof, the eventual GOP nominee.
In fact, according to Steelman, she did endorse Hulshof, but was asked to participate in only one event — one she could not make because she does not participate in political events on nights her sons play football. She did not get asked to participate in any other events.
Here’s what it all boils down to. Sarah Steelman does not seem like a jerk. And frankly, the jerks either never call or call to yell. She did not call to yell, but to introduce herself. That’s classy.
Perhaps there should be a Roll Call vs. Red State showdown?
Either way, Democrat Robin Carnahan has to be enjoying this a bit.

Tony,
Do you see that it is your job to stir up the dissention in the Republican party? Seems like you are taking on this role, and with 20 months to go, I am getting tired of you already.
Who’s going to the “Tea Party” protest tomorrow to protest the bailout?
-ST. LOUIS Tea Party
Date: Friday, February 27, 2009
Time: 11:00am - 12:00pm
Location: The Steps of Arch
Street: Wharf Street
City/Town: Saint Louis, MO
Time to protest,
I’ll be there. You’ll recognize me by the big “Hoover Stopped the Depression” and “Re-enact Hoover’s Tax Cuts” signs.
Speaking of ugly freight, how about that Robin Carnahan? 110% extremist, abortion on demand, with taxpayer dollars. Partial birth abortions. Abortions for minor children, with no say for mom and dad.
Carnahan is ALL in favor of Obama’s tax hikes, super trillion dollar deficits and blind-crazy spending.
Wants to handle “global warming” by sending the jobs we still have to Mexico.
Bring it on.
Red Collar…How’s that pro-life thing going for you guys?
In 2005 the Republicans controlled the White House, the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House and the U.S. Supreme Court….They decided to go to war and kill innocent women and children instead of ending abortion…
Do you feel just a little bit stupid?
Hey, I went to the jerk store today…Know what they said?
…They’re all out of you.
red collar, I don’t think you’re pro-life enough. You didn’t accuse Carnahan of wanting to eat babies and make you become gay. I mean, if you’re going to say something false and crazy, say something totally false and crazy.
Ah, jeez. Garrison with the unhealthy anger again:
“… kill innocent women and children instead of ending abortion…”
===
Garrison, as usual you are an idiot. Get some class, will you? Be a nice socialists.
I will be there for the tea party. I am so sick of the Socialism.
superdave is right on. Progressive tax codes are socialist. Now, if we go back to the Reagan tax plan, where companies were allowed to write off losses and get a tax CREDIT - not a deduction mind you, but a CREDIT, for their losses, or for purchasing failing companies for no other reason than to write of their losses, or, of course, “tax leases”, there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s good old fashioned capitalism - taking money from everyone else and giving it to those on top. It’s only “socialism” or “redistribution” if you offer services that aren’t targeted to the top.
If you’re anything like me, you’d agree with me that the best idea would be to substantially cut taxes, government services, and government spending. Ya know, just like Hoover did.
I’ll be the one on the side of the highway with the big “Hoover Saved America” sign.
Please step slightly into the highway …
