ST. LOUIS — Mayor Francis Slay’s second campaign ad features his administration’s efforts for veterans. The ad references — and shows briefly in the clip — Tim Embree, a Democratic campaign worker and Marine who served two tours in Iraq.

Currently, Embree works in Slay’s City Hall office as an aide on environmental and veteran’s affairs.

Earlier, Slay released a TV ad focusing on an after school program.

Slay, seeking a third term, faces two opponents in the March 3 Democratic primary.

Ridiculous. 1. Tim works for the Mayor. 2. What has Slay done for Veterans? And, homeless Veterans, specifically? 3. Soldiers’ Memorial is still a mess.

Helping Vets is admirable, but Slay is looking extremely soft right now. Our city is dealing with crime, education, development, and economic issues. Does he think we can’t see through this propaganda? Please discuss the real issues we are facing. He has to go! He hasn’t even RSVPed to a debate where all the mayoral candidates are discussing the issues at Harris Stowe on the 26th. Does he think he is above having to answer questions about this city and his terrible track record? This guy is out of touch like McCain was - and we all know how that story ended.

I can’t wait until election day!

Soldiers’ Memorial seems much improved to me. They even have a PHD running it now. I met her and she and her assistant seem to be doing a great job. Slay got the $250000 ramp installed there too. I understand the HERO program is a success and that helps homeless veterans get off the streets. Also, I understand that SLATE has counselors that are specialized in assisting Veterans to find jobs. Sounds like Slay has done more for Veterans than any other Mayor in St. Louis history.

Slay? Help Veterans? That’s news to me and i’m a Veteran who is active locally. I know Slay attended a forum on homeless last fall but that was to address the issue of the homeless at Lucas Park. While i’m sure a few of them are Veterans, i’m not sure a forum on the homeless qualifies as having helped homeless Veterans.

Then again, we’re talking about Slay. To him, maybe that forum is about homeless Veterans.

Regardless, if he truly supported Veterans he would stop screwing around with the Soldiers Memorial.

Not sure which of the three stooges i’m going to vote for but I seriously doubt it will be Slay.
